Anthrop Architects is an award winning architectural practice specialising in the commercial, social development, and residential sector of the built environment. The practice was established in 2013 by Roald Meyer and Leon van der Westhuizen, young architects with more than 20-years combined experience in design and managing various scales of projects. As a dynamic architectural practice we are c

ommitted to our clients in providing them with a personal professional service, focusing on value creation and sustainable design principles. We follow an integrated approach, incorporating design skills with all the latest Building-Information-Modelling technology needed to respond to the complexity and challenges of contemporary architecture. Our firm’s name, Anthrop, describes our design philosophy, and is derived from the Greek word ánthrōpos meaning human being. As Architects, we study the behaviour of people within their various environments and therefore have an anthropological understanding of how people live, meet & relax in a space. Our vision is to be a leader in sustainable design principles in our various sectors of the built environment, adding value and improving the quality of life of our clients and the users of our buildings.

Another successful year comes to a close — shaped by collaboration, trust, and architecture realised. Without the confidence of our clients, our practice would produce ideas only; with that trust, those ideas become buildings.

This year, House Ardú was recognised with a PIA Award for Architecture and featured in VISI Magazine, Issue 139.
Karoo Uitkyk was also published in VISI Magazine, Issue 136 and SCAPE Magazine — acknowledgements that reflect the depth and diversity of work completed.

Alongside projects delivered, we are equally excited about new work already in progress as we look ahead to 2026.
