To new beginnings for Gariep Plants. We no longer sell plants, but will keep posting about the wonderful succulents of South Africa.
Please keep in contact - the absolute best part about Gariep Plants was the amazing people we could enjoy our days with.
My dad, Kotie, always said he wanted to create a garden where people living in the city could escape to.
I wish we could have kept Gariep Plants running, but beautiful things have come from Kotie’s passion for plants and people. Today has been an amazing win. This is a plant most customers know well - for years it greeted every person coming through our gates in Faerie Glen.
Today, with the help of the most caring people (I met during a brief moment of manning the till at Gariep years ago), it moved with us to our new home.
The sunbirds are already flocking to it. Two lizards had the most exciting drive through Pretoria. Kotie would have liked this day. He would have phoned as many people as he could to tell them about this amazing feat. He would have bragged about how you meet the best people through succulents and he would have had some wine.
