SUCCESS REPORT
ARREST OF SUSPECTED HOUSEBREAKER

INCIDENT SUMMARY
On the morning of 05 September 2026 at approximately 01H30, members of the CSI Armed Response Unit were dispatched to an alarm activation in the Newlands area, Pretoria.
While responding to the alarm, the CSI responder was flagged down by members of the public, who reported that multiple suspects had been observed fleeing from the area where the alarm had been activated.
The responder immediately requested assistance from the CSI Special Operations Unit and CSI K9 Unit.
During the response, the CSI responder identified multiple suspects fleeing the area. One of the suspects pointed what appeared to be a fi***rm at the responder while attempting to escape.
Members of the CSI Special Operations Unit and K9 Unit subsequently arrived to assist with the apprehension of the suspects. Following a coordinated response, one suspect was successfully apprehended.
Upon searching the suspect, members recovered suspected housebreaking implements and a knife. The suspect was also found to be wearing gloves, consistent with an apparent attempt to avoid leaving fingerprints or other evidence at the scene.
Brooklyn SAPS was dispatched to the scene and took custody of the suspect, who was subsequently arrested for further investigation and processing.
OUTCOME
The coordinated response by the CSI Armed Response, Special Operations and K9 Units resulted in the successful apprehension of one suspected housebreaker and the recovery of items believed to be associated with the commission of a housebreaking.
The incident further demonstrates the effectiveness of rapid response, inter-unit cooperation, K9 support and coordination with SAPS in responding to serious security incidents.
