DO I REALLY NEED AN ARCHITECT?
I understand why people ask the question, especially these days.
When most people think about design, they imagine: beautiful homes, expensive finishes, perfectly styled spaces. Not necessarily something "essential."
But the more projects I work on, the more I realize how little design is about how a home looks, and more about how it impacts the people living in it. A poorly designed home will always ‘hold you back’ and things will never ‘just feel right’.
Floor areas will get cluttered by furniture that compensates for poor planning.
Finishes become maintenance hazards instead of adding value. And over time, the home starts demanding more from you than it give. Your home will start owning you…
And here is the golden thread…. A well-designed home does the opposite.
It accommodates the people living in it — their routines, habits, aspirations, and the realities of everyday life. It does not ask for constant attention. It works quietly in the background.
Storage is where you need it. Maintenance is manageable. Spaces flow naturally from one to another. And most importantly, it gives people more time and energy to focus on their lives rather on their home. A well-designed home will uplift you and not drag you down.
So yes, hiring an architect is an absolute privilege, but I think it will also one of the best investments you will ever make. A happy home is a happy life…o”,)
