CHICKEN TAGINE WITH EGGPLANT PUREE (pictured)
Tagine is a classic North African dish in which meat and vegetables are braised in a gently spiced sauce in an earthenware pot with a conical lid, ensuring a famously tender and deeply flavourful meal.
We simmer chicken thighs in a sauce of garlic, ginger, saffron and black pepper until tender, and serve it with a thick, intensely flavoured sauce of fried eggplant, tomatoes, spices and almond flakes, as well as fattoush – a Levantine bread salad with crispy pita bread pieces and a fresh salad. Reheat chicken R280, serves 2
TRADITIONAL FISH BOBOTIE PIE
We prepared a popular fish bobotie for years in Menlo Park and recently received many requests for it. This version of the traditional Cape dish is prepared with flaky white fish and all the spices that made bobotie famous, along with the obligatory raisins and apricot jam. We chose a cream cheese pastry topped with lemon zest and flaked almonds for this version. Reheat R330, serves 4
LAMB AND LENTIL SOUP (you asked for it!)
A rich, comforting broth with shredded leg of lamb slow-roasted with carrots, onion, celery, garlic, leeks, tomatoes, lentils and warm spices. Reheat R200/litre (4 cups/2 generous servings)
CORN CHOWDER
The ultimate comfort food, prepared with corn, potatoes, onion, thyme, milk, and flour. The soup is slow-cooked until it is thick and creamy. Reheat R180/litre (4 cups/2 generous servings)
COURGETTE CHEESE FILO PIE (new)
This is our take on a traditional Greek Kolokithopita, made with baby marrows, feta and other cheeses, herbs, eggs and cream, topped with a drizzle of honey. 20cm diameter. Reheat R250 each
SPINACH PIE
A spinach filling flavoured with feta, mint and lemon wrapped in phyllo pastry. 20cm diameter. Reheat R200 each
PEAR & MATURE CHEDDAR TART
A savoury tart in a casing of our handmade puff pastry with baked pears, mature cheddar, thyme and pecan nuts, drizzled with honey. 20cm diameter. Reheat R250 each
MELKKOS
Melkkos - we supply the concentrate and cinnamon sugar. Add milk to your liking while stirring over low heat. R130/litre, makes up to 8 cups.
