β οΈSafety Tips from Lights and Toolboxes π‘π§°
These are some but definitely not all safety tips but we would like to add value to our community by ensuring your safety... stay tuned for more tips and tricks that we post π«.
π΄Outletsπ
Do not overload your power outlets (even though you have a circut breaker and it should offer protection, it's safer to use power outlets correctly cause you may not know if your circut breaker is installed correctly and in working order and it can be a Fire Hazard)
If a power outlet plate is hot to touch call an electrican to assess what the cause is, most likely a loose connection (wiring) or overload and is causing your plug or outlet to melt... β οΈπ§―π₯FIRE HAZARD.
π‘Lights π‘
Flickering lights. Switch off power and replace light bulb if it continues call an electrician as it may be a loose connection which could be a... yup you guessed it A FIRE HAZARD β οΈπ§―π₯
π’Extension Cords β°οΈ
An extension cord should be a temporary solution and used correctly. As an electrician we have this same discussion "client buys extension cord- extension cord melts or stops working???? Most Extension Cords are to thin or not adequate for high wattage use. If using high wattage appliances with extension cords please ensure you use a 2.5 mm extension cord.
π΅Water π§ π±β οΈ
This is probably a no brainer but its good to be reminded.
Electricity and Water are like Oil and Water they do not mix.
Ensure when working with electricity your hands and the area is free of water and if that is not possible that the main feed of power to the source area is OFF.
NEVER TRY AND EXTINGUISH AN ELECTRICAL FIRE WITH WATER. π₯ π±π§―π₯Use a fire extinguisher or if that is not possible sand.
π£Turning off power π΄βοΈβ οΈ
When working on appliances or electrical outlets and sources that are problematic please ensure that the main feed of electricity is OFF!!!
β οΈImportant: it is always safer to call an electrician than take the risk.βοΈ
When appliances and outlets are not in use, unplug the appliance and switch off the outlets.
It also saves money π° π€ we like saving you money.(MONEY SAVING POST COMMING SOON)
