Not All Money Is Good Money. When I first started in business, I thought every client was a blessing.
If someone came with money, I said yes.
No questions asked.
Big mistake.
Because not all money is good money.
1️⃣ Some clients will drain you dry.
They come with big promises, sweet talk, and urgent projects. But when it’s time to pay? Silence. Excuses. Vanishing acts.
2️⃣ Some clients are toxic.
They don’t respect your time.
They don’t respect your boundaries.
They don’t even respect your work.
To them, you’re just another pawn in their game.
3️⃣ Some clients are cheap.
They want champagne results on a soda budget.
They’ll negotiate you down, squeeze every coin out of you, then act shocked when you don’t deliver a miracle.
💡 A wise teacher once told me: “Vet your clients. Character, values, and manners matter more than money.”
And it’s true. Because bad clients don’t just cost you money. They cost you peace. They cost you time. They cost you opportunities with better clients.
So here’s the rule:
– If they don’t respect contracts, don’t take the job.
– If they don’t pay deposits, don’t touch the project.
– If your gut says no, trust it.
Business isn’t just about making money. It’s about making money the right way. With clients who respect you, value your work, and pay what they owe.
So next time a client comes your way, don’t just ask, “How much will I make?”
Ask, “What will this cost me in peace, time, and sanity?”
Because trust me—not all money is worth earning.
