Foresta Timber and Board is looking for an outstanding, hands-on Workshop Manager!
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Routine Servicing of Vehicles:
Trucks and bakkies based on manufacturers recommendations:
• Order service kits/parts/consumables
• Oil changes
• Filter changes
• Brake shoe / pad wear and replace
• Cooling system flush and top up
• Brake fluid flush and bleed
FLT’s based on hours:
• Order service kits/parts/consumables
• Oil changes
• Filter changes
• Brake shoes / pads
• Cooling system flush and top up
• Hydraulic fluid levels
• Clean and grease slides, masts and chains
• Check wear of forks
• Brake fluid flush and bleed
Daily Vehicle Inspection:
• Carry out vehicle inspections
• Attend to issues highlighted on Daily Vehicle Inspections, e.g. lights out of order, windscreen wiper replacement, tyre wear, etc.
Fuel Dispensing:
• Dip tank prior to dispensing
• Assist with dispensing of fuel
o Record litres dispensed
o Record kilometres/hours travelled
• Dip after all vehicles have been fuelled
Fuel Receiving:
• Dip prior to dispensing fuel from the delivery truck
• Check fuel density using hygrometer
• Check that meters are zeroed
• Check that correct volume is dispensed
• Dip after the fuel drop is complete
• Sign off delivery document
Diesel Generator Checks:
• Ensure fuel levels are maintained after generator has been used
• Schedule routine servicing and maintenance
Breakdowns:
• Respond to vehicle breakdowns
• Attend to breakdown repairs where possible
• Arrange towing where required
Stock Control:
Ensure adequate stock of “break-fix” parts
• Fan belts
• Light Bulbs
• Fuses
• Filters
• Oil/Coolant/Brake Fluid/etc.
• Vehicle cleaning materials
Safe Disposal of Workshop Waste:
• Used oil, coolant and other fluids
• Used filters, brake pads, etc.
Vehicle Licensing:
• Annual license renewal
• Annual roadworthy
• Annual load test
Housekeeping:
• General workshop tidiness
• Tool care – ensure all tools are accounted for and care is taken of tools
Skills and qualifications:
• Qualified Mechanic with knowledge on petrol and diesel engines.
• Hydraulics knowledge and solid administrative experience.

• Quick thinker and fast learner
• Tidy
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Willing to work overtime when required to fix breakdowns
