DREAM KITCHEN

CUSTOM MADE

A spec house usually just comes with the absolute essentials and more often than not it lacks the thought and design that custom made units can add.

This newly built house has a lovely open lounge leading out onto a pretty garden and our client had tastefully filled it with good furniture. But the client could not find a TV unit that worked with requirements as well as the space.
And this is our forte, hearing and fully understanding a client's needs and wants and then with all this information in mind, coming up with a design that is both practical and pleasing on the eye.

The result is a TV unit that houses a TV as well as an LP player and a concealed Hifi system. While also serving as a bookcase and offering space for display of art.
We also made a matching music cabinet, flanking the client's much loved piano.

This piano was the inspiration for the colouring of the timber chosen.
A combination of veneered and solid Mahogany with Rubio Monocoat South Africa Pure sealer was used for both counter tops as well as the floating shelves.
The music cabinet as well as the bookcases are in duco'd Supawood with glass doors and LED lighting in the top 3 sections.

Yet again, we count ourselves very lucky, to get the opportunity to work with such a wonderful client, we appreciate you🙏🏼

WINE DISPLAY UNIT

We are very privileged to have repeat customers who over the years have come to know and trust our design, quality and attention to detail.
We were appointed to make this unit for one of those, much appreciated, clients🙏🏼

As you will have seen in a previous post, there was an empty space below the staircase in the client's man-cave / TV dungeon. The brief was that he wanted space for both vertical and horizontal storage of wine, as well as a space for the wine cooler and the unit had to incorporate the speaker.
We had to make lots of jigs and templates of the angles below the stairs, before we could start manufacture, to ensure a good fit. Patience and detail is key!

The unit is made in veneered and solid Mahogany, to pick up on the colouring of the staircase treads.

Angled shelving with LED lighting.
Winerack with solid strips of Mahogany to prevent the bottles from rolling.
Concealed drawer, with push-to-open runners, for storage of cork screw etc.

Mahogany sealed with Pure Monocoat, Rubio Monocoat South Africa
It is such a beautiful rich-coloured wood which doesn't need any added colour, a clear sealer complements it best😍

REVAMP

We are often involved in the whole process of revamping a house and it is so rewarding!

In this case, the house has the most magnificent location with fabulous views of the river but it was dated and too closed up to really be able to fully enjoy.
After comprehensive discussions with the owners and the project manager it was decided to open up as much as was possible as such lightening up the whole place.

We designed a light and airy, classic kitchen and scullery with Shaker style doors and classy Caesarstone counters.
Duco in Off-white. Frosted glass in some of the wall mounted cupboards, just to add a different texture and soft colour.

STAIRCASE AND BALUSTRADES

This staircase is a the centre of the house, the focal point of the lovely spacious entrance hall.
The balustrades also extend into a wall, separating the flat from the main house. Giving both privacy as well limiting sounds from one part of the house the the other.
It was quite tricky to get all the angles to line up! And Alan, being a perfectionist, had quite a few headaches along the way! But I think the end result speaks for itself, all the small details, tweaks and hard work was well worth it! We are very privileged to have clients like this family, who put their trust in us and allow us to push the boundaries 🙏🏼
