General Instructions

Agloanemas

By nature, Aglaonemas do best in well-lit locations. Bright, but indirect sunlight is optimal. Be careful not to put your Aglaonema in full sun, as the leaves will burn. Keep your aglaonema plant's soil just barely moist—but not wet—and avoid allowing the soil to dry out completely. Generally, it will need watering more frequently in the spring and summer and less in the winter, so check the soil moisture regularly. They perform best in a well draining, fertile soil so be sure to add some well dried manure to you soil or potting mix 1-2 times in their souls during their active growing season. It is best to provide protection for your agloanemas during the winter months as exposure to the elements can cause them to perform poorly or die out all together.

Philodendrons

Philodendrons love filtered sunlight, keep them in a spot that receives soft morning light and filtered afternoon light to keep their leaves in pristine condition. Under big leafy trees is most ideal. Climbing varieties will really show off their impressive size if allowed to climb against a wall or tree. They prefer loose, nutrient rich soil or potting medium and only need to be repotted once rooted become bound to be the pot, about once a year. They can be watered once every 1-2days depending on where they are kept.

We are located in Rhodespark, Lusaka. Deliver for local customers and courier for out of town clients can be arranged.

Anthuriums
Anthuriums love bright spots, though their leaves will suffer sun damage if exposed to direct afternoon sunlight as this can be quiet harsh. So best to grow them in a protected, shady spot. They want to be kept barely moist but never soggy. Fertilize your plant with well decomposed manure every 2 weeks to promote healthy growth.

Alocasias

Alocasias have medium water requirements. Even consistent moisture is ideal. They like to partially dry out between waterings, but they do not like to be soggy. Cut back on watering during the colder months if the plant is not actively growing. They do best in a spot that received moderate, indirect sunlight otherwise their leaves turn inward as a form of protection. They can be heavy feeders so best to feed biweekly using a well decomposed manure. Keep their growing medium light and lofty to encourage strong roots and formation of corns.

Syngoniums
The Syngonium prefers warm temperatures and high humidity. Give your plant regular misting to keep it happy. Keep your Syngonium away from drafts of hot and cold air that can harm it. A matured Syngonium develops a climbing habit, which looks lovely climbing on a totem or cascading over the sides of a hanging basket. They love a loose, fertile soil or potting mix, so they will benefit from being fertilized with well dried manure once a month. Depending on where they are placed they can be water once a day especially during our hot summer days.

They enjoy frequent misting and keeping their soil moist but not wet. In cooler weather, it is recommended allowing the top 2' of soil to dry out between waterings to prevent overwatering and root rot. Alocasia are heavy feeders so be sure to add well composted manure for you plant to have healthy, multiple leaves.

Begonias
These like to stay damp, and not dry out completely, but they hate having their roots sitting in water. Use well draining soil, with some compost material, to help retain moisture. Always water at the base of the plant, as they are susceptible to leaf rot and spots if the leaves get damp. They do best in situations with shade or morning sun/afternoon shade.

Cacti
Cacti and succulents thrive with good light sources, and it is best to place cacti and succulents in a bright place. Water your cactus only when the soil is completely dry. They prefer sandy, very well draining and fairly unfertilized soil. Feed sparingly.
