She first found him in the dirt, his tiny frame nothing but bones, his eyes too tired to cry. He was only a child, yet the world had already stolen his strength, his laughter, and his hope. She knelt beside him, holding out a bottle of water with trembling hands, praying it wasn’t too late.

Day by day, she refused to give up on him. She sat by his bedside when fever gripped him, she fed him when his hands shook too much to hold a spoon, and she whispered promises that one day, he would smile again.

Years passed. The fragile boy she once cradled grew strong enough to walk, then run, then carry his own dreams. She held his hand on his first day of school, proud tears streaming down her face as his eyes, once empty, now sparkled with curiosity.

The boy who was once moments away from fading became the boy who laughed, who studied, who dared to believe in a tomorrow. He stood before her one morning, dressed in a sharp suit, his smile radiant, his thumbs-up a silent thank you for the life she gave back to him.

She had saved his body—but he, unknowingly, had saved her soul.
