A simple roof leak on a 5 year old home has turned into a bigger problem. The tiles are on the wrong mark, so the side in the photo needs removing and a extra row of tiles added. Unfortunately Boral or Lutum roofing no longer exist . Just another job for next week

Ok here is a job I had a look at today, get to know what your quote means, have you been quoted for a RE BED AND POINT. or just a RE point . The photos are of a dodgy re point. ARe point means they are going to point over your old cement and a RE Bed and point is removing all the old cement and re bedding with new cement. On most houses this will be around $1000 difference, so if your quotes vary in price really look over the quote, even ask questions. Reminder this poorly done job was not mine

The start of a full restoration, at this stage I've only replaced broken tiles, 60+ , and a full re bed, it's thrown a couple nasty surprises and a few little geckos aswell. Now that it's bedded I will return in the spring to pressure clean it, point, sealer and paint. Ballarat is to cold in winter to be painting

So this is a job I quoted and won. It was booked in and the owner had a door knockers call past and well his quote was cheaper than mine unfortunately the owner found out the hard way his ceiling has collapsed. Now I'm back to finish off the pressure cleaning and bed and point the roof. No matter how good you are you always get water inside your roof cavity when pressure cleaning . The trick is to minimise it

22nd of may. Today I've been a roof tiler for 37 years. Time flies when your having fun. I remember the first 12 months of doing new roof's it was absolute hell on my body. Sore back . Sore muscles. Cuts bruises and scraped legs from falling through battens. I consider myself as pretty lucky in my industry as not many make it to my age without serious health problems. Mainly back and knees. I've definitely got more years left in me
