Scenic Rim Regional Council has teamed up with Capire Consulting Group to run an independent review of our disaster management and recovery efforts. This is your chance to reflect on the event, share your experiences, and help shape how we respond in the future.

Whether you're a local resident, business owner, service provider or part of a community group – your voice matters. Let’s talk about what worked, what didn’t, and what support is needed moving forward.

We’ve seen the awesome Energex crews out there today in these wet and rainy conditions working hard to get power back to our community.
I think many of us locals around here know how to handle days without electricity after the boxing day tornado in 2023.

Storms expected to come through this afternoon and evening (Sunday 9 March).
As we all know, The ground is very water logged out there - stay well clear of trees , stay inside and off the roads as much as possible.

📣 SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING 📣

🕒 Issued at 3.05pm pm Sunday, 9 March 2025.

The Bureau of Meterology has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning - for INTENSE RAINFALL and DAMAGING WINDS - for people in parts of Logan, Scenic Rim, Gold Coast, Redland City and Brisbane City Council Areas.

🌧 Heavy to locally intense rainfall and damaging winds expected to continue today.

Emergency services advise people to:
* If you have children make sure they are with you or an adult you trust.
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.

The next warning is due to be issued by 4:05 pm.
