These were made for a life on the move 🐪

Handwoven by nomadic communities in Afghanistan to carry food, tools, and belongings across long journeys, these vintage saddle bags were built to be both beautiful and practical. The bold tribal geometry was never drawn out. It was carried in memory and tied in by hand, which is why no two are ever the same.

Handmade objects with real provenance, honest materials, and bold tribal geometry belong in a considered home. Draped over a chair, hung on a wall, or repurposed as a cushion, each one brings history into the room with it.

Our cushion cover collection brings together three distinct handmade traditions 🛋️

💠 The Faryab Kilim: Hand-woven in Faryab, northern Afghanistan from 100% wool. Bold stripes, simple motifs, tribal geometry and the beautiful irregularities that come from a weaver working entirely by hand.

🌷 The Suzani: Made from vintage Uzbek Suzani textiles, hand-embroidered on cotton and newly constructed into cushion form. The embroidery you see is original, stitched by hand in Uzbekistan and softly faded with age.

🐏 The Kohi: The same hand-woven Ghazni wool as our Kohi rugs. The pile is high, the texture is dense, and the softness is the kind you feel before you fully see it. Each one newly constructed with its own pattern and character. No two alike.

Kinda chic to own a vintage rug ✨

31/08/2026

Not every rug labelled "handmade" is handmade. Hand tufted, hand loom, machine printed. These are not the same thing, and the difference matters when it comes to the longevity and quality of what you are bringing into your home. It is what separates a rug you replace in one year from one that outlives you.

A genuinely handmade rug is hand-knotted or hand-woven. Every knot tied individually by hand. No gun, no machine, no shortcut. The pile sits differently, the wool behaves differently, and the rug lasts a completely different amount of time.

The Caucasus, the mountainous region stretching between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea, has one of the oldest and most distinctive rug weaving traditions in the world. The rugs that come from this region are immediately recognisable. Bold geometry, confident structure, and a use of pattern that leaves nothing to chance.

This vintage Karabagh is a strong example of exactly that. A deep charcoal field, bold geometric medallions in rose, pink, and warm camel, and borders carrying as much visual weight as the field itself.

Hand-knotted from wool on a cotton foundation.

The pile of a hand-knotted rug is not a surface. It is a structure.

Each tuft you see is the end of an individual knot, tied by hand onto the warp and trimmed to an even height. The density of those knots is what gives the pile its weight, its resilience, and extreme softness underfoot.

Run your hands across the pile. We guarantee you’ll feel the difference 🤎

Our latest Vintage Tribal Saddle Bags 🐫

This is Najaf’s favourite style of rug. The Elephant’s Foot gul, a large bold octagonal medallion repeated in rows across the field, is one of the most iconic motifs in all of Central Asian weaving. The Ersari tribe has made it their own for generations.

What makes this particular piece rare is the colour. Turkmen rugs are known for their deep, saturated madder reds. This one was woven differently. A softer, dustier red with warm cream and whispers of teal running through each gul, a truly unique colour-way.

Over 100 years old. One of a kind. And in Najaf’s words, exactly his kind of rug ❤️
