Step into the bedrooms of our North Sydney project 🤍

While the living spaces are open and connected to the harbour views, we wanted the bedrooms and main ensuite to feel more intimate, calm and cocooning. A softened colour palette, tactile finishes, warm timber joinery and gentle lighting all help create that feeling of retreat.

The renovation transformed the apartment, but it’s the furnishings, textiles and finishing layers that bring warmth, personality and that feeling of home.

The kitchen was probably the biggest design challenge in our North Sydney project.

As this was an apartment, we needed to work with the existing plumbing and exhaust locations, so completely reconfiguring the kitchen wasn’t an option. One of the biggest opportunities came from rethinking the end of the kitchen, where an existing window looked directly towards the neighbouring building and took up potential joinery space.

Because the apartment already receives so much natural light from the harbour-facing windows, we were able to conceal the window behind a new full-height joinery wall, dramatically increasing storage without sacrificing the light or openness of the home.

It’s a great example of how thoughtful design isn’t about having more space. It’s about making the space you have work better.

The harbour views are amazing in this home, but we wanted the interiors to feel just as good. Our goal was to create a home that felt considered and connected to the stunning outlook - with warmth, layering and an inviting feel.

A foundation of soft whites, warm timber, natural stone and aged brass brought warmth to each space, layered with gentle accents of muted blue-green, blush and rust. The result is a home that feels quietly refined, cohesive and comfortable, with enough depth and personality to make every room feel special.

You don’t always need to move walls to completely change the way a home looks, feels and functions.

Our North Sydney Project is a great example of this. While the footprint remained exactly the same, thoughtful planning, a completely reworked kitchen, tailored joinery, layered lighting and carefully considered furnishings transformed the experience of living here.

In our latest blog, we share more of the thinking behind the project, including one of our more unconventional kitchen decisions, how we approached furnishing the apartment as our clients downsized, and where we chose to save versus invest.

NEW PROJECT REVEAL 🤍
Welcome to our North Sydney Project — where we completely renovated and furnished this beautiful apartment for clients downsizing into a new chapter of life.

The apartment already had two things we couldn’t improve on: beautiful natural light and an incredible harbour outlook. What it needed was an interior that felt equally considered.

Without making any structural changes, we reworked the kitchen, added thoughtfully designed joinery and layered in new finishes, lighting and furniture throughout to create a home that feels warm, cohesive and genuinely easy to live in.

It still has exactly the same footprint, but the experience of living here is completely different.

Creating a beautiful finishes palette is about so much more than choosing individual materials you love. It’s about how they all work together. 🤍

When we develop a scheme for our clients, we consider the balance of colour, texture, pattern and material, and how each selection will sit alongside the next. Stone, timber, tiles, paint and finishes all play their part in creating a home that feels cohesive, layered and personal.

With so many decisions to make during a renovation, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the choices. Part of our role is to simplify that process, bringing clarity to the selections and making sure every decision contributes to the bigger picture.

We love how much this transformation has changed not only the look of the bathroom, but how it feels to use every day.⠀⠀

We completely reimagined this space to feel lighter, more spacious and quietly luxurious. One of the biggest changes was introducing a skylight, allowing natural light to flood the room, while fresh contemporary finishes and refined tapware brought a sense of calm and simplicity.

One of the design philosophies I was reminded of in Copenhagen is that comfort and beauty should always go hand-in-hand. A home can be beautiful, but it also needs to feel good to live in. 🤍

Our South Coogee project is a lovely example of this. We wanted to create a home that felt warm, welcoming and nurturing, with sofas you immediately want to curl up on, chairs that invite long conversations and lighting that creates a soft, intimate mood. Warm timbers, soft rugs, gentle sheers and layered textiles all help soften the spaces and make them feel inviting.

What struck me in Copenhagen, and something I see reflected in this home, is that a sense of calm doesn’t necessarily come from having less. It comes from bringing the right layers together in a way that feels natural and comfortable.

Laundries don’t have to be a bore! 🤍 With clever planning and a little design attention, even one of the most practical rooms in the home can be beautiful to spend time in.

For many of our projects, we take cues from the kitchen, carrying elements of the colour palette, finishes and joinery through to the laundry. This helps create a sense of connection between the spaces, while making sure everything works beautifully for everyday life, often transforming a once-dull space into one that sparks joy 🤍
