DAMAGING TO DESTRUCTIVE WINDS BECOMING LIKELY ACROSS THE SOUTH WEST LAND DIVISION FROM THIS AFTERNOON.

Weather Situation: A deepening and intense low pressure system will approach the southwest today and will bring a significant burst of damaging to destructive winds to western and southern parts of the South West Land Division. By Monday the low pressure system is expected to move to the east with the risk of damaging winds shifting towards southeastern WA, before easing overnight Monday night.

WIDESPREAD DAMAGING WESTERLY WINDS averaging 60 to 70 km/h with gusts to 110 km/h are likely over western parts of the South West Land Division from this Sunday afternoon and continuing into early Monday morning. DESTRUCTIVE WIND GUSTS in excess of 125 km/h are likely over an area southwest of a line from Lancelin to Albany, including Perth, during Sunday afternoon and evening.

The risk of DAMAGING WINDS will shift from the west coast to inland parts of the South West Land Division, and to southern Goldfields, South East Coastal and Eucla districts during Monday, clearing from Perth and western districts before sunrise on Monday, then easing in the east on Monday night.

The WINDS associated with the low-pressure system from Sunday afternoon through Monday morning are expected to generate RARELY EXPERIENCED, WIDESPREAD and DAMAGING TO DESTRUCTIVE CONDITIONS across southwest WA.

DAMAGING TO DESTRUCTIVE WINDS REMAIN LIKELY ACROSS THE SOUTH WEST LAND DIVISION INTO MONDAY MORNING.

Weather Situation: A deep and intense low pressure system is moving east along the southern coast tonight, bringing a significant burst of damaging to destructive winds to western and southern parts of the South West Land Division. As the low moves east during the morning, the risk of damaging winds is expected to shift towards southeastern WA, before easing overnight Monday night.

WIDESPREAD DAMAGING WESTERLY WINDS averaging 60 to 70 km/h with gusts to 110 km/h are likely to continue over western parts of the South West Land Division into early Monday morning. DESTRUCTIVE WIND GUSTS in excess of 125 km/h are still possible over an area southwest of a line from Lancelin to Albany, including Perth, into early Monday morning.

Weather Situation: A high pressure system southwest of the state, together with a trough off the west coast, will generate a vigorous easterly airstream over the Darling Scarp tonight.
Severe Weather Warning

DAMAGING WINDS averaging 55 to 65 km/h with peak gusts of around 90 km/h are possible over the warning area from late this evening, most likely about the hills and foothills on Thursday morning between 2:00 am and 10:00 am AWST. Winds are expected to ease below warning thresholds by midday Thursday.
Gusty easterly winds are relatively common this time of year, however winds are likely to be strong and may cause damage to property and make road conditions hazardous. Easterly winds of this strength generally occur around 1 to 3 times per year.
Locations which may be affected include Gingin, Harvey, Armadale, Dwellingup, Ellenbrook, Kalamunda, Midland, Mundaring and Pinjarra.
