Catherine park is one of the best designed landscape parks in the world. Walking from one path to another a visitor absorbs all range of natural views and human-made landscapes, such as ponds, bridges, pergolas, sculptures and so on.
Surprisingly winter-time in the garden is beautiful and gives some inspiration that other seasons would be missed.
The quality of parks usually graduates by effort and spend -time for maintenance.
Here service is remarkably high.
Well-trimmed linden trees with absolutely straight lines are piece of landscape art.
Here is on a photo 150 years old trees formed into perfect box shape with removed everything extra. Can you imagine if one of those trees was damaged then all the design would fall apart?
In 1720 I.Roozen and Foht started a landscape park. continue park development architecture V. Neelov with Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli creating a perfect transition from natural- looking park to classic style. He knew in 1774 how the landscape would mature in 2026. His drawings for master-plan in the 18th century impresses the similarity with the real look now.
I actually use the method of watercolor drawing before design and my clients gardens. Always helps!

Favorite retreat for me. BOTANICAL GARDEN. This time is one of the first that I visited in my life when I started the profession. It's Botanical Garden Peter I in Saint Petersburg, Russia. It was established in 1714 as a garden for medicine herbs and foreign plants. In the 19th century the park extended to a chain of 28 greenhouses and a science laboratory where lots of tropical, unique and rare plants grew and propagated successfully.
Botanical Garden and especially greenhouse plants hardly survived during cold winters in 1942-44 in the Siege of Leningrad period losing from 7000 species to 800. Saved plants ware yellow -olive ribbon ( see on tall savannah cactus photo).
I learned something interesting this visit too. Every season I buy for seasonal planters Ipomoea and surprisingly found its Sweet potatoes that we buy at grocery stores!
Bonus of visit was an additional spring exhibition with bulb plants as tulips, hyacinth, narcissus and all other spring pretties that we wait to enjoy.

Christmas floral workshops were joy and fun. We offered "large outdoor planters" workshop in November, to catch up the Holiday spirits and festivity. And after it , starting December were a series of table centerpiece arrangements organized as private Corporate parties and gathering for fun events. And "Cherry on top of the cake" was a floral party where we dress up like flowers and designed the centerpieces with fresh evergreens.
