Join CSV in celebrating World Architecture Day. This year’s theme, Housing is a Human Right. Build It., reflects a principle that has guided our work for more than 25 years.

Throughout our history, CSV has collaborated with dedicated community organizations and non-profit housing providers, including Salus, Ottawa Community Housing - OCH, Shepherds of Good Hope, Multifaith Housing InitiativeI and Cornerstone Housing for Women, to create housing that responds to the needs of the people and communities it serves.

As the housing crisis becomes more urgent, architects have a responsibility that extends beyond design. We must help advance sustainable and inclusive solutions that make adequate housing more accessible.

Today, we’re highlighting some of the projects and partnerships that have shaped our history, while recognizing the important work that still lies ahead:

• Ottawa Salus Corporation, Millennium House
• Cornerstone Housing for Women, Booth Street
• Ottawa Salus Corporation, Karen’s Place
• Multifaith Housing Initiative, The Andy Carswell Building (Veterans’ House)
• Ottawa Community Housing, Carlington Hub
• Shepherds of Good Hope, Richcraft Hope Centre
• Ottawa Salus Corporation, 56 Capilano

The spaces we design are connected to the lands, histories, and communities around them. On this National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we honour residential school Survivors, the children who never returned home, and their families and communities. We will continue to listen, learn, and consider how our work can better reflect and respect the lands and communities we serve. 🧡

Recently we celebrated this major milestone for our Reuben Kemptville project. This new 109 unit co-operative housing community designed by CSV Architects, and built by McDonald Brothers Construction , will create safe and inclusive affordable homes for the Kemptville community.

Designed for community living, the development features a range of unit sizes, private patios, shared amenity spaces, a future vegetable garden, and a gazebo.

We look forward to seeing this project take shape in the months ahead!

Congratulations to Passive House Canada and Salus on a successful Passive House Pulse Ottawa event!

Hosted at our newly completed project, 56 Capilano, the event focused on the value of high-performing buildings, and the importance of affordable housing.

The presentation, led by CSV’s Darryl Hood and Salus’ Evan Eastwood, offered both a technical deep dive and a meaningful look at the purpose behind the project. Attendees were invited to tour the building with members of the project team, including Darryl, Alex, and Kate, followed by a networking session to finish the evening.

Thank you to Passive House Canada for organizing the event, and to Salus Ottawa for hosting us. We were proud to help share our project that supports such an important cause.
