There's one rule my dad drilled into me before I even picked up a tool. I still can't break it.

"Finish what you started." Soccer, fixing my bike, even a BMX track I built in the yard I definitely wasn't supposed to touch next door. Didn't matter what it was, you finish it.

That rule never stayed in the yard. It's the same standard on every deck, floor, and reno DWC touches today. If it's half done, it's not done. Sand it right, finish it right, walk away from a home you'd actually want to live in.
