Something weighing on my mind lately with socials is captions - I hardly read any anymore. AI has replaced so much. And I genuinely miss reading people’s thoughts, straight from their minds. Their beautiful beautiful minds.

I tried it for a bit - especially when life felt hectic and I felt the pressure to post. And because of that, I became so disconnected from my own story telling - which I’ve LOVED in the past. I love writing. I love reading!

Can we bring back social media from a couple years back? 🤎🌷

Also - enjoy my animals, my plants. The storms we went through. The celebrations we celebrated! May was a literal rollercoaster 🎢 But we have life in the fields, and in the garden - albeit a little too much water. But life nonetheless 🤎

💜💛 Blackcurrant — another intermediate bearded iris that loves to thrive in harsh conditions! Many blooms per stem, and one of the first to bloom in my garden 🌼

🤎 Jump Start — the wine coloured intermediate bearded iris 🍷

In zone 3, Jump Start is one of the first to bloom late May/early June (spring weather depending… this year has been a doozy). The colouring may feel moody, but Jump Start’s temperament is not! Year after year, -40 winters and +40 summers, Jump Start returns… not only healthy, but with lots of growth/new rhizomes!

✨ First 3 photos were taken in the evening, and have a subtle filter on them. Last 3 photos are from the morning, no filter!

Our site will be updated later this month, for now everything will show “out of stock”. I will share our Iris Sale launch date soon!

If photos could capture fragrance, I’d have 100 more to post 🤎💜

I’m certain I’m not the only one who wishes lilacs bloomed longer. The way they smell. Their beautiful purple hue. How they remind us that spring is actually here. Another few weeks with them doesn’t feel like too much to ask.

But here we are. Year after year. Everything blooms, then dies off, completing its cycle the way they’re intended to.

Grateful while they’re here. Noticeably sad when they leave 🥲

If you find yourself needing to move them, and it’s not fall, they will be okay! (Unless the ground is frozen 🥶)

Don’t expect blooms or rapid growth. All their energy is placed beneath the soil, so they can be a stunning plant the following year! Sometimes we aren’t left with any other option. I’ve been there (too many times to count), and I’ve had a 100% success rate.

This girl is the first to bloom and eager to spread, as a standard dwarf iris. And for whatever reason, I’ve never offered her on my site! She may not be as fancy as some of my tall bearded irises, but she holds her own when it comes to resilience in our climate, consistent growth, and reliability for blooms.

I guess I’ve been hoarding her 🤷‍♀️ “Cherry Garden” is her name. And she’ll be added to the site this month! 💜🤎

These pretty little chickies have changed so much since taking these photos - an update I’ll have to make soon 🐥

There’s something about new life in the spring. How we are drawn to tending to little creatures and naturally have more energy and capacity to do so. We are rooted in the seasons out here. As wild as they may be (like this spring LOL), we’re still rooted.

Our chicks remind me how fast it goes by. They already have feathers coming in and I’m not prepared for their ugly chickie phase. My cute? More eggs into the incubator 😆

Getting a 3 week old calf on a bottle is not for the faint of heart 🥲

The garden is mostly in, the peonies are growing well, the irises will start to bloom soon… and this little dude needs to cooperate lol
