When we were asked to dress this round window at our client’s home in Northamptonshire, we sketched out a few ideas before landing on a coronet with curtains: pretty enough to frame the window, practical enough to close fully when needed.

I do love a good before and after… and this one is quite a transformation ✨

This eaves room had become a rather muddled combination of study, Peloton room and general overflow space. With young children - and now a new baby - the owners were keen to make much better use of it, creating somewhere for the children to play and, importantly, plenty of space for friends to stay. It may well become their little boy’s bedroom eventually.

We designed two bespoke cabin beds to sit within the eaves, working around the wonderful old beams. And what look like drawers underneath are actually two more pull-out beds - so the room can sleep four children when required… which I rather love.

The really lovely part came when we started thinking about how to decorate all that new joinery. We had chosen this beautiful fabric by Lewis & Wood for the curtains, and asked the very talented Elli Brooks to take elements of the design and reinterpret them by hand across the cabinetry 🌸

Swipe through and you can see some of the process - from the beds taking shape, to Elli working out the design and then painting directly onto the joinery. I love that the flowers aren’t an exact copy of the fabric, but feel as though they belong together.

Inside the cabin beds we went much stronger with the blue, with little wall lights by Matilda Goad tucked beneath the beams. The central pendants are from OKA and we used pretty scalloped bedding from SARAH.K - the bed curtains adding another layer of pattern and softness.

It’s always satisfying when an awkward space suddenly finds its purpose… although I’m not entirely sure where the Peloton ended up! 🤍

When we finished this drawing room in Barnes, Michael Branthwaite photographed it beautifully - that navy sofa, the rust and terracotta cushions, a simple roller blind doing the job at the window. We loved it as it was, but we always knew curtains and a pelmet were still to come.

Fast forward, and thanks to House of Kit who envisaged the space so completely, we’ve now dressed the window properly with curtains and a box pelmet in the most gorgeous fabric by Guy Goodfellow Collection . It’s amazing what a good pelmet does to a room like this: it grounds the whole scheme and makes it feel finished in a way a blind alone never quite could.

Forgive the iPhone photos (courtesy of me and Kit) next to Michael’s professional ones, but sometimes you just want to show the real thing, even if not quite ‘finished’ the day it goes up. 🤍

There’s something about a green bathroom that always stops me in my tracks: this one from our project with Nefarious Interiors is exactly that.
Adam has brought in tongue-and-groove panelling that gives the room a lovely warmth, painted in Lichen by Farrow & Ball - and the original claw-foot bath has been repainted in Tawny by Edward Bulmer Natural Paint . The sash window is dressed in a relaxed roman blind made for us by Kimberley 🦋 soft furnishing creator in a gorgeous paisley print by Nicholas Herbert Ltd which softens everything without fighting the panelling.

The bespoke vanity is another of Adam’s designs: painted in Deep Reddish Brown by Farrow & Ball, topped in marble and finished with brass fittings. Lighting is by Pooky with shades from Besselink & Jones 💡

A proper masterclass in how far paint and panelling can take a room. 🛁

We’ve shared this Wandsworth snug before, but this time we wanted to zoom in on one of our favourite details - the footstool. We took our client’s existing piece and re-covered it in Salvesen Graham Seaweed Woven in Dusty Pink, finishing it with their Melmerby Fan Braid in Rose. A small thing, but it anchors the whole room beautifully.

The mood board tells the story: sketch, fabric, braid - which we carried through to the cushions too - and somehow it all came together exactly as imagined.

The snug, which also features the glass-panelled dividing wall we added to give the space its own identity, is full of pattern and texture: fabrics (all tagged) layered together with frilled edges, contrast trims and reupholstered favourites.

You might also spot the Hadley Tray in Berry by Louise Roe for Sharland England - we couldn’t resist it 🌸

A proper bank holiday weekend ahead at last: sunshine, blue skies and actual heat coming next week ☀️. The perfect excuse to throw open the doors and have lunch indoors-out.

A first glimpse from a project photographed for us recently - the open-plan kitchen/dining end of the room, dressed for exactly that kind of slow summer lunch.

Three rooms, three colourways - all in ‘Squiggle’, which has quietly become one of our favourite fabrics. It does that rare thing of feeling both fresh and timeless, and behaves brilliantly whether it’s on a Roman blind, piped up on a deep kitchen bench seat, or used with a frill across a generous sofa.

A look back at Focus 2024 at the Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour, and a reminder of how much craft goes into capturing a stand once it’s dressed.

These showroom spaces are deceptively small - every angle has to earn its place, and shooting in a tight footprint means working with what’s already there: the track lighting overhead, the lamps you’ve layered for atmosphere, the natural light spilling in from the aisle. Every shot is a quiet negotiation between all of them.

Watching work was a lesson in patience. Tripod inches forward, lampshade nudged half a degree, a cushion straightened, wait, reshoot. Some of these frames came out of corners barely big enough to stand in - squeezing past furniture, balancing the camera over the edge of a bed, getting low to find the line that made the room feel generous rather than cramped.

The finished images make it look effortless. The behind-the-scenes shots are a more honest story. Thank you Tom 🙏

A Chelsea townhouse project by for which we made the dining room roman blinds in one of Josef Frank’s classic patterns some years ago.

Last weekend I finally made the pilgrimage to on Strandvägen in Stockholm. Upstairs, framed on the wall, was the original artwork for the very pattern we’d used in Charlotte’s project. I hadn’t expected to meet it there.

A little look back at a project close to my heart ✨
This was my client’s previous home in Northamptonshire - she has since moved, but I’m so happy to still be working with her. 🤍

We kicked things off in one of the girls’ rooms with this pretty pink print by , complete with a mini pelmet in the same fabric to match. We often add these when blinds sit outside the window recess; they frame the blind beautifully and hide the less-than-picturesque edges of the cassette, but when the fabric is this pretty, they become a little feature in their own right 🌸

Moving through to the master bedroom, we used ‘Seaweed’ in Beige by , finishing the headrails with little fabric flaps -or ‘ears’ - that add a sweet detail and a neat edge to the blinds.

And finally, it’s always a joy to discover new fabric designers - my client had chosen this gorgeous design by for the family bathroom, a pretty floral that made up so beautifully into a blind.

It’s so often those small details that make all the difference 🦚🌱
