What does an asbestos test certificate actually look like? 🔍
Here's a real example from our in-house laboratory. Let us walk you through it.

➡️ The header - shows our two offices (North Wales and Manchester) along with our contact details. Every certificate comes from us directly, not a third-party lab.

➡️ The UKAS badge (ref 2075) - this is the big one. UKAS accreditation means our laboratory is independently assessed to the highest international standard. Not every asbestos company has their own accredited lab. We do. 🏆

➡️ The report details - show the date the sample was taken, the date it was tested, and the date the report was issued. In this case, all three were the same day. That's how fast our in-house lab can turn things around.

➡️ The results table - this is what matters most. It tells you exactly what was sampled, where it came from, and what was found. In this case? No asbestos identified. ✅

➡️ Authorised by J J Bullock, Technical Manager - every certificate is reviewed and signed off before it reaches you.

✅ All clear. Reassurance air monitoring at a convenience store in North Wales.

A building contractor working on site had accidentally drilled through asbestos floor tiles. As soon as this was identified, work stopped and we were called in to carry out reassurance air monitoring.

Our equipment sampled the air over a monitored period and the results showed respirable fibre levels below 0.01f/ml, which is considered a safe background level.

The store could continue operating with confidence.

This is exactly what reassurance air monitoring is for. When something unexpected happens on site involving potential asbestos disturbance, you don't have to shut everything down and hope for the best. A properly conducted air test gives you the evidence to know the environment is safe, or to take further action if it isn't.

😳 The things we find on site...

This sinister looking WW2 gas mask was discovered in an empty house in Malpas, Cheshire during a survey in March 2026.

A fascinating piece of history, but also a potential hazard. The filters housed in the metal tin section at the base often contain chrysotile asbestos, which means items like this need to be handled and removed with care rather than simply thrown away or kept as a curio.

This is one of the more unusual finds but it is a good reminder that asbestos turns up in all kinds of unexpected places, not just walls and ceilings.

🏠 Did you know asbestos can be found in everyday household items?

Most people associate asbestos with old buildings and construction sites, but it was widely used in all kinds of products right up until it was banned in the UK in 1999.

Two of the most common household items we come across are old fire blankets and ironing board heat resistant pads. These were manufactured with asbestos materials for decades and many are still in homes across the UK today.

If you have an old fire blanket at home, we always recommend having it properly assessed and disposed of correctly rather than simply throwing it away. Replace it with a modern non-asbestos equivalent and you will have the same protection without the risk.

✅ No asbestos detected. All clear for a homeowner in Bethesda, North Wales.

We recently completed an asbestos management survey on a detached residential property (NOT PICTURED) believed to be over 50 years old. Every room was inspected, including the roof space, all external materials and the outbuildings.

Samples were taken from the cement undercloak and analysed in our own UKAS accredited laboratory. Report delivered within a week of the survey date.

🚨 Sadly, this is something we see more often than we should.

This large pile of construction debris was fly-tipped on a rural road in Conwy. Our team attended, assessed the waste and arranged for it to be safely removed and taken to a licensed Hazardous Waste Transfer Station for proper disposal.

What looks like a pile of rubbish can be far more dangerous than it appears. Building rubble, old tiles, ceiling materials and pipework can all contain asbestos - and fly-tipping this kind of waste puts the whole community at risk.

If you're having building work done, please make sure your contractor is disposing of waste legally and responsibly. And if you spot something like this in your area, don't go near it and don't ignore it.
