Studio Heim

Studio Heim Influenced by Scandinavian simplicity and a thoughtful, holistic approach.

At Studio Heim, we believe interior design should support not only how you live, but how you feel - creating homes that feel comfortable, grounded and deeply personal. Influenced by Scandinavian simplicity and a thoughtful, holistic approach, we design interiors that balance beauty with everyday function. Working across Edinburgh, Central Scotland and beyond, we create timeless spaces shaped around real life - homes designed to be lived in, not just looked at.

Friday favourites.
This week, we found ourselves drawn to spaces with a quieter presence.

Soft neutrals, natural materials and gentle contrasts that create a sense of calm without feeling flat or uninspiring.

There is something timeless about interiors that do not ask for attention but instead invite you to slow down and settle in. Spaces that feel tranquil, balanced and easy to live in.

A reminder that neutral does not have to mean boring. When layered thoughtfully, it can create some of the most interesting and comforting interiors of all.

There has been lots happening behind the scenes at Studio Heim recently.

New projects, new ideas, and plenty of exciting plans taking shape.

The World Cup is here, and there is a little extra excitement in the Studio Heim team this year.

With a team made up of different nationalities, we are lucky enough to have every one of our home countries represented. Safe to say there will be plenty of friendly competition over the coming weeks.

And while the football might be the main event, it is also a reminder of how important our living spaces are. Whether you are watching the match on your own, gathering the family together, or hosting friends for an evening of football, the best seat in the house is often your own.

A well-designed living room is about so much more than how it looks. It is about creating a space that works around the way you live, entertain and spend time together.

Because the biggest moments are often enjoyed from the comfort of home.

Who are you supporting this World Cup?

Over the years, we have designed many bedrooms, and they are often one of our favourite places to start.

Unlike the more social spaces in a home, a bedroom is deeply personal. It is where you begin and end each day, where you rest, recharge and find a little quiet away from everything else.

When a bedroom is thoughtfully designed, the impact goes far beyond aesthetics. The right layout, colours, lighting and materials can help create a sense of calm, improve everyday routines and contribute to better rest.

It is one of the most important rooms in the home, yet it is often overlooked.

If your bedroom no longer feels like the retreat it should be, we would love to help you create a space that truly supports the way you live.

Friday Favourite

This week, we came across this beautiful selection of countertop materials and couldn’t help but save them for inspiration.

A countertop does so much more than provide a practical surface. It introduces texture, depth and character, helping to define the overall feel of a space. Whether it’s subtle veining, rich tones or a tactile finish, the right material can elevate an entire kitchen and bring all the design elements together.

Proof that thoughtful material choices can make a lasting impact.

We’ve been meaning to share this one here for a while.

A family bathroom in a period Edinburgh home, designed to be genuinely practical for two young children while still feeling like somewhere the parents actually want to be. It’s a balance that takes some working out, but we’re really pleased with how it came together.

More to come shortly. In the meantime the full project is on our website if you’d like a closer look.

In a sea of portrait photos, we’re bringing you a landscape shot so you can take in more of this beautiful bedroom we designed.

One of the key features of this project is the hidden walk-in wardrobe, carefully integrated into the layout to keep the bedroom feeling calm, uncluttered and restorative, exactly what our clients were looking for.

It’s a great example of how a small change to the floor plan can completely transform the way a space feels and functions. By rethinking the layout, we were able to create better flow, maximise storage and maintain the peaceful atmosphere that makes this room so special.

These are the kinds of creative design solutions we love developing for our clients, helping them make the most of every inch of their home.

Would you have guessed there was a walk-in wardrobe hidden in this room?

A new enquiry came in this week for a nursery, and it had us going back through our archives to this one.

There’s something about these projects. They tend to arrive with a lot of feeling attached, a lot of hope and excitement, and sometimes a little nerves too. Being part of that process, helping shape the first space a child will know, is always an honour for us.

If you’re preparing for a new arrival and would like some help with the nursery, we’d genuinely love to be involved.

Not every room is straightforward, and honestly, those are often the most interesting ones to work with.

This one was small, full of angles, and needed to do a lot. Dining, living, and a guest sleeping space, all without losing the feel the client had in mind. The kind of brief that takes some sitting with before the right answer starts to show itself.

The inspiration images pointed towards something warm and enveloping, and colour drenching the whole space in green felt like the right move. Walls, ceiling, all of it. It’s the kind of decision that can feel bold on paper but just makes sense once you’re in the room. Cosy in the best way.

We’re sharing the process, the floorplan and the furniture selection are coming soon. If you’ve got a room that’s been giving you trouble, this one might feel familiar.
