♻️ Supporting Local Families, One Rag at a Time 💙
We wanted to give a wee shout-out to The Micah Project, a fantastic local charity doing brilliant work for families across Ayrshire.
The Micah Project helps make everyday essentials more accessible by redistributing good-quality children’s clothing, school uniforms, trainers, coats, baby items and more. They also run initiatives such as Twice Treasured clothing boxes and Badge It, helping families reduce the cost of school clothing while giving perfectly good items another life.
This latest delivery shows exactly what their approach to reuse is all about.
These boxes contain clothing and textiles that were no longer suitable to be passed on to families. Instead of simply being thrown away, the Micah team have cut them down into rags for our guys to use across PureBuilt sites.
So something that has reached the end of one useful life gets another one with us — cleaning tools, wiping surfaces and generally getting absolutely covered in render no doubt! 😂
It might seem like a small thing, but it means less textile waste, more reuse and fewer materials unnecessarily going to landfill. The Micah Project specifically accepts clean textiles that can't be reused as clothing so they can be repurposed into rags.
Most importantly, the work they do day in, day out is helping local children and families when the cost of uniforms, clothes and everyday essentials can put real pressure on household budgets. Their work has even expanded into school starter-pack initiatives aimed at helping children arrive for P1 prepared and confident.
A brilliant local organisation, a brilliant cause and one we're very proud to have a connection with. 👏
