Complete

First of the paving jobs this year and it was a good sized one too. This lovely gardened home in the eskdale valley area was suffering with a sinking and very broken up base.

Once I’d cleaned the top off with the pressure washer I was better able to lift and clean down the old slabs ready for their refit.

Cleaning out the old base and concrete the area was then relevelled and made ready for mortar. Replacing the old flags was then a simple task of following the old pattern. I recut one drain as it had been put in badly and didn’t look nice. Now done the whole area was grouted with Sika Fastfix resin grout in charcoal. The area is now flat and even again.

COMPLETE

This home was suffering damp and other issues due to the pointing being so poor. The gable point being the worst point in the job.

We’ll raked out joints and then in with a good mix of mortar. Cleaning down with an etching solution then on with the Waterseal to help protect the new surface. The whole place has had a face lift.

COMPLETE
I’m back at Middle Boon farm this last two weeks. I did the main house earlier this year. The one shown is the original farmhouse predating the existing house from 1868. It probably goes back to the 16th century, the is still the original spring in the corner of the building feeding a water trough. The building is currently milk storage for the farm but I believe it may soon be reworked.

As you can see from the images it was in fairly poor condition. The gable point was suffering with a lot of broken jointing and as you can see I had to rebuild a considerable amount of it as it was all becoming loose. Full cut out with a rake and then in with new lime mortar. Brushed back to expose the aggregate and water sealed to help the new mortar set up.

It looks totally different now and I’m very pleased with the finish. I hope it gets its well earner revamp soon.

COMPLETE
Back into Seascale this week for more brick and block work. Again this was suffering with badly eroded joints.

A full rake out of the old stuff and a new stronger mix struck into place. Thanks to KB Scaffold for their usual good work. A good clean down as this was a dusty one but it’s all come back up nice. This now suits the new extension done a few years ago.

COMPLETE
This lovely home has some serious views to its name and such a pretty hamlet. A few jobs to do here with the stone walls need repointing and a few patches of stonework. Now repointed in lime hydrate with an exposed aggregate finish.

Blind or sunblind removal including electrics. There was a drain around the back of the house which has now been recast as part of the path. It was used as a gutter drain but was very green and breaking up. Now the guttering goes all the way round to the drain direct and the new cast is curing. (Pics to follow)

COMPLETE
This is an existing client I’m back to and very nice to see them both again. This is the next stage of there project garden a base for a new studio which I believe is in discussion at present. Watch this space.

A full dig out with stumps washing lines and so on to get rid of. Skip promptly supplied by KT Skips many thanks.

The base is compressed MOT1 Sub Base at 4 inch depth this equated to just over 6 ton in total supplied by Jewsons Egremount. With a Geotex full membrane in place. Compaction to the desired height as there is finishing tiles and I believe posh aggregate to go down once the studio is placed. It’s gonna be a posh one very much enjoying this job.

Anothe nice home brought back to life. The usual erosion for this area and plenty of holes too.

A complete rake out and repoint was needed and then a good clean and water seal to help protect the new mortar
