There is something quietly special about this newly installed Accoya timber bay sash window. Accoya is no ordinary timber. Made from sustainably sourced wood and modified through acetylation (advanced wood treatment), it comes with a 50-year above-ground guarantee and offers exceptional stability - resisting the swelling, shrinking and warping that the British climate so often brings. Our engineered Sapele (sa-PEE-lee) is a dense, stable hardwood that eliminates seasonal movement - so your sashes keep operating smoothly all year round.

Every window is fully factory paint finished before installation, giving a more consistent result and extending the time between redecorations.

Pro tip: Specify laminated glass as one pane within the double glazing. It reduces UV fading to furniture and carpets and adds an extra layer of security.

Narrow timber sections keep the sightlines clean and uncluttered. The sleek design offers more glass, less frame, and a seamless connection between inside and out. Running on Siegenia door gear, the operation is effortless and near-silent - a smooth, consistent glide every time.

Tired, draughty French doors with failing security - time for a proper upgrade at this beautiful Victorian home in Berkhamsted.

We replaced the old doors with complete new hardwood high-performance versions. A+ rated double glazing stops the draughts and cuts energy bills. Sleek multipoint locks deliver modern security without the bulky hardware. Traditional raised and fielded panels restore the authentic period detailing this home deserves.

Each door set is factory finished with a four-coat Teknos paint system - built to last decades, not years. These doors will serve this property well into the next generation, protecting another chapter of its Victorian story.

For conservation area projects, clarity early on makes a real difference.

Where replacement sash windows closely match the original design, approval is often straightforward. Reviewing local guidance before work begins helps avoid delays and unexpected issues later on.

Each project is assessed individually, so taking the time to understand the requirements is always worthwhile.

Replacing sash windows in a conservation area doesn’t automatically mean planning permission is required.

The key question councils ask is simple:
“ Does the replacement change how the property looks from the outside?”

Like-for-like timber sash windows are often treated very differently from designs that alter proportions, materials, or detailing.

Article 4 Directions can also remove permitted development rights, which is where confusion usually starts.

Because guidance varies between councils - and even between streets - checking properly before ordering avoids delays, redesigns, and wasted costs.

If permission is required, we can handle the planning process on your behalf, including conservation and Article 4 applications, so the project moves forward with clarity.
