A visit today to a new project that has start in for a pair of detached new build homes. Word have begun with site strip and set out, with the footings being dug as we speak. This site is particularly tricky based on the sloping levels both side to side and front to back. We were instructed to work on the Planning drawings and since the Building Regulation drawings, with onsite works also to be undertaken. I am certainly looking forward to seeing this project come together onsite over the coming months and year

I’ve recently been made aware that my name has been referenced in relation to advice suggesting that planning permission and/or building regulations approval would not be required for certain extension projects.

As an Architectural Designer, I would like to make it absolutely clear that I have not given any such blanket advice, nor would I ever advise clients to disregard statutory requirements.

Whether planning permission or building regulations approval is required depends entirely on the specific details of each project. These matters must be properly assessed in accordance with current legislation and local authority guidance.

Compliance is not optional, and providing inaccurate information — particularly when using someone else’s professional name — is a serious matter.

If anyone has been told that I have advised that permissions or approvals are unnecessary, I would appreciate you contacting me directly so I can clarify.

Thank you.

A visit this week to a project in to see how things are getting on. This one doesn’t show much as you can see, but there is a full basement floor underneath the beam and block floor structure. This is as part of a whole new build home we achieved planning permission for last year. This will be a lovely detached 3/4 bedroom bungalow with basement below. Looking forward to seeing this one come together onsite over the coming months and year.

A new project has begun its journey onsite in and as you can is well underway (we were a little late to the party!)
The proposal for this phase of works is a large single storey rear extension which almost doubles the footprint of the home to create a fantastic Kitchen/Dining/Living space to the rear of the home. Once complete the second phase of the project will be to convert the loft space by adding both front and rear dormers to achieve bedrooms and bathrooms to the first floor. Once complete this will provide a fantastic detached family home

Another project well underway in (thought this had been previously posted). This project was for a part two storey, part single storey side and rear extension with internal alterations throughout. By achieving planning permission for this extension the new home shall have 4 double bedrooms, with two bathrooms to the first floor, separate living room at ground floor and large open kitchen/dining/family space across the rear. Works are really going great onsite

A foggy site visit this morning to see how the ‘Changing Room’ project is coming along. Roof felt and battens are now in place meaning that the roof is partially weathertight with the roof tiles due to be installed early next week. Internally the partition walls are coming along nicely which shows the layout well (further photos/video to come soon), More to follow….

We now have a roof structure! After a fantastic week by the bricklayers to get things ready, the truss rafters where delivered and installed. The team onsite today to install the trusses worked through the bad weather and got the job done. This week will bow see the entire build become weather tight ready for internal walls to be constructed, etc. More to follow….

A visit this morning to check on the brickwork progress shows that things have really come along. The internal blockwork is now up to plate height with the wall plate to be installed early next week. The external facing brickwork is coming along nicely too, but waiting on the scaffold to be installed onsite tomorrow. Today the concrete and steel lintels where to be installed over all windows and doors as required to ensure the brickwork may continue over them. More to follow….
