If your property was built before the year 2000, the answer is probably yes.

Asbestos was used in a variety of different materials such as;

- Textured Coatings
- Floor Tiles and Adhesive
- Roof Sheets and Tiles

- Boiler Flues and Soil Pipes
- Fire Doors
- Bakelite (Switches, Sockets, Toilet Cisterns etc)

At a quick glance, we assumed these tiles were polystyrene. Upon further inspection we noticed a few tiles were a slightly different texture on the surface, after the samples were analysed by the lab we found they contained Amosite and Chrysotile ⚠️ These tiles are considered to be a high risk , friable item. When disturbed they have the potential to release a large amount of carcinogenic asbestos fibres which are invisible to the naked eye.

This highlights the importance of having a Refurbishment survey prior to having any works carried out in your property (pre 2000). Not only is it a legal requirement, it will eliminate the risk of accidental exposure to asbestos by identifying any asbestos containing materials within your property.
