Take a closer look at this space. With no traditional windows to work with, the design utilised massive, grid patterned ceiling lights to recreate the soft, diffuse feel of natural daylight.
The interior is an underground furniture and design showroom in a converted old bank building.
The benefits of this can include: increased energy levels, showcasing the products as best as possible without harsh shadows, removes the ‘windowless’ feeling, and makes the enclosed space feel brighter, bigger and more comfortable.
Personally, I do like the idea, especially as the lighting here is changeable to replicate natural daylight variations over the course of the day. It works in this particular situation given it’s underground and it’s a retail space, but what do you think about this sort of artificial daylighting in general?
