🎉 Planning Approval Secured 🎉

In an era when any positive planning decision, however small, seems like progress and worth celebrating we’re pleased to share that a Non-Material Amendment application for a community project in Cornwall was approved.

A great piece of work by our Part 1 Architectural Assistant, supporting the team in coordinating updated drawings and documentation to progress the project in line with the original planning consent.

Well done Azal.👏

On Tuesday, the team visited the NLA’s Homes for Londoners: A New Agenda for Public Housing exhibition, which explores the history and development of public housing over time, alongside the policies that have shaped housing in London. It also addresses the challenges facing housing today and how these are being tackled by practices across the city.

The exhibition includes our Bulrush Court, where you can find the project’s background information and our models on display alongside other brilliant work. It’s well worth a visit!

📍Location: NLA, The London Centre, 3 Aldermanbury, EC2V 7HH

📆 Exhibition Closing Date: 02 March 2026 - 18:00

We are looking for a talented and proactive project architect to join our growing team in London. The ideal candidate is likely to have more than 5 years of relevant experience, with proven project running skills and a strong background in the design and delivery of buildings.  A thorough knowledge of UK building regulations is essential.

Experience of the Building Regulations Principal Designer role, and use of Revit, will be beneficial.

Why Join Us?
• An opportunity to work on meaningful, safety-critical projects that improve building performance.
• A friendly, supportive and collaborative studio culture.

Over the last few weeks, Azal, Nang and Hana have been baking, building and piping away for The Gingerbread City® London 2025!

This year’s theme is “The Playful City”, and our creation is called The Tulip City, inspired by our Tulip Cycle Wands. We’ve loved bringing this idea to life, and it’s been so lovely seeing everyone else’s gingerbread masterpieces. We can’t wait to see the final exhibition.

You’ll be able to find The Tulip City at Coal Drops Yard, King’s Cross from 30 November. If you spot our gingerbread Tulip City, please tag us we’d love to see!

Tickets for November are available now at thegingerbreadcity.com.
Hope to see you there! 🌷🎄

Last week, some of our PTA members took part in the Open House Festival by Open City.

Our Architect, Giovanna, volunteered at Tower Hamlets Town Hall, a beautifully restored Grade II listed building that was once the Royal London Hospital. The refurbishment by AHMM now accommodates council staff, the council chamber, and offices. A particularly striking detail was the retention of the hospital’s original medical equipment, including surgical lights now suspended over the council staff tables.

Meanwhile, our Part 2 Architectural Assistant, Griffin, visited Marie’s Wardrobe by Tsuruta Architects. The project is renowned for its CNC-cut plywood and MDF staircase, where traces of email exchanges between client and architect have been intricately engraved into the stair’s stringer and handrail, a reminder of the importance of collaboration between the client and the architect.

Director Luke also enjoyed seeing the inside of artist Howard Hodgekin’s studio in Bloomsbury!

All visits were fascinating and inspiring.

Having worked on large new-build residentially led projects for nearly 20 years, Pitman Tozer are not new to the importance and challenges of design for fire safety. We have in recent years been building on this experience, assisting building owners, contractors and developers with remediation of existing buildings, among them a number of Higher Risk Buildings.

From inception of the work and working alongside fire engineers and their preparation of external facade and risk assessments, thorough review and audit of design information, we have been developing remedial proposals supported by intrusive investigation and specialist contractor design, to full RIBA stage 4 detail design stage.

Later this year, we will be reaching the completion of the second of these projects onsite, while we complete detailed design on a number of others, and juggle the complexities of gateway submissions to the Building Safety Regulator.
