🌟 CAN I TELL YOU A STYLING SECRET? 🌟

Rooms need contrast.

Something old beside something new, something plain beside something patterned, textural layers, a darker note among softer colours. That little bit of tension is often what makes a room feel interesting, tactile and what gives it depth. How many examples of subtle contrast can you see in this before and after from a Popfox house styling project? We LOVED this job!!!

From cold empty room to cosy Scottish sanctuary 🔥

This render I created highlights how important layered soft furnishings are when you want to create a snuggly sanctuary. If you don’t have that vibe in your room just now, ask yourself if it’s softness that’s missing!

I occasionally use visuals like this (in a loose sense) to help explore ideas and communicate the potential of a space before any decorating or styling takes place.

That said, a beautiful render is only as good as the design thinking behind it. The real magic comes from understanding orientation, layout, colour, scale, lighting, texture and how a room needs to function for the people living in it. A render can show the approximate final destination — but good design & styling is what really gets you there. ✨

BEDROOM GLOW-UP

From fine…to fabulous! ✨

This space had all the bones of a good guest suite, but just needed some va-va-voom! These clients of mine are always SO good at expressing what they’d like, helping me co-create the scheme during a planning session and then implementing it so faithfully. Love the end result! Now they have a guest bedroom they can be proud of ♥️

The evolution of a holiday cottage bedroom… 🐚 🌊 🦀

From the estate agent’s listing of how it used to be (pic 4), to the final stage of accessories styling (pic 1 - a rendered image showing the finishing touch accessories I sourced for my clients last week in situ. 2 items still TBC due to changing stock levels, but this gives a clear vision of what we are planning!).

They’ve put a lot of effort into this room transformation (as has their amazing joiner, Tom, who realised our vision for the clever bed build, to maximise berths in here!), and now their family & friends who stay here on vacation can enjoy it for many years to come 🤎

A beautiful client furniture delivery today, care of the meticulous Kate & Sarah . This seating is SO comfy - I could lounge here for dayyyyyzzzz! 😴 ♥️

This sun-filled reception space has still to be fully dressed and styled (my next step!), but already it’s been transformed into a more cosy, inviting space for my fabulous clients ☀️

Y’ALL READY FOR A BEDROOM BEFORE AND AFTER?

These client pics, taken only about a month apart, show the difference that just one Popfox Styling Advice session can make!

From zoning to lighting, colour to pattern interplay, measuring to item sourcing, we got busy with the fizzy and smashed it in one morning! 🙌🏽

My clients were so excited, they purchased all the items right away and can now just enjoy their gorgeous bedroom, complete with piano area, all summer long (and beyond!). Not least that stunning view, which they can now truly get lost in, as they sip an evening G&T from the comfort of their new armchairs. 🍸

GREEN DREAM 🌱

A nature – inspired, timeless kitchen scheme for my new clients in Perthshire. We really wanted to bring the outside farmland into the home, while creating a calm and cosy modern country feel inside. This isn’t the final layout as builders have still to get underway realising their architectural plans, but so many of the fabrics and items here are ones we sourced together in readiness for the big moment when my clients home dreams can be realised 🤎

🌺 ☀️ APRIL SO FAR 🌺 ☀️

Just back from catching some rays in Turkey with my boys and also our dear friends - so good to have some recharge time!

And equally lovely to come back to update pics of my Kinross client’s guest bedroom (image 1), which has so much more sass now! It really matches their funky personality, and the character the rest of their home is taking on as we gradually plan each room revamp 🙌🏽

In further exciting news, my other longstanding clients have had their holiday home kitchen & bathroom installed to perfection. They and their trades have done such an amazing job here!👌🏽 It’s especially nice to see the bold pop of red in the kitchen that we chose together come to life! These rooms are now simply awaiting those all-important magical finishing touches that we will be meeting to discuss & source next month 🌟 (images 2-4)

And today, I had the pleasure of dropping by another project closer to home, to see tiling progress in the utility. Not long till the funky wallpaper goes up either - who says doing laundry has to be boring?! (Image 4)
