How to introduce colour and character to a bland lounge.

A neutral lounge creates the perfect foundation for a calm and timeless interior, but sometimes the spaces can feel a little flat or lacking personality. One of the easiest ways to transform a neutral room into a warm, inviting and stylish space is by introducing organic elements alongside carefully chosen accent colours. The balance between natural textures and subtle colour can completely change the atmosphere without overpowering the simplicity of the room.

Organic materials such as jute, linen, wools and wood can instantly bring warmth and depth to a neutral interior. Natural wood side tables, woven fabrics in throws, linen cushions, an accent chair, jute rugs and stone accessories all help create a relaxed living space. Adding indoor plants is another excellent way to soften a room, whether it’s a large statement olive tree, trailing ivy on shelving or smaller potted plants on side tables, greenery works beautifully against neutral tones.

Texture also plays a huge role when working with neutral palettes. Layering boucle fabrics, chunky knit throws, slubby linens and natural surfaces prevents the room from appearing too plain or clinical. Mixing these different textures allows a neutral lounge to feel luxurious and cosy while still remaining elegant and understated.

Accent colours can then be introduced to add personality and visual interest. Earthy shades such as olive green, terracotta, rust, or muted mustards work exceptionally well in neutral interiors because they complement the organic accessories naturally. These colours can be put in to cushions, artwork, lampshades, ceramics or upholstered accent chairs without overwhelming a calm base palette.

The beauty of neutral interiors is their versatility. By combining natural elements with carefully selected accent colours, you can create a lounge that feels welcoming and full of character while still maintaining a timeless aesthetic that won’t quickly go out of style.

A Beautiful Chair Transformation: From Dated to Timeless

There’s something incredibly satisfying about giving a customers well-loved piece of furniture a second life, and this recent project is a perfect example.

The original Marks & Spencers chair had great bones: a solid frame, comfortable proportions, and a classic silhouette. However, the outdated patterned fabric made it feel tired and out of place in the customer’s home. Rather than replacing it, our client chose to reinvent it.

We carefully stripped the old upholstery and refreshed the padding where needed, ensuring both comfort and durability. The real transformation came with the choice of a soft, neutral cream heavy linen fabric from Neptune, instantly transforming the chair into something elegant, fresh, and versatile. Subtle detailing, like the refined finish and updated legs, completed the look.

The result? A timeless statement piece that blends beautifully into a contemporary space while retaining its original charm at a fraction of the cost of buying a ‘Neptune’ chair.

Well what a surprise and lovely village in Liverpool! Woolton is gorgeous, we were there today sourcing a victorian larder cupboard and it didn't disappoint, quaint buildings, independent shops, we filled our bags with goodies from an Italian deli, organic salads from the village farm shop, and marinated meats from the butchers, finished off with a glass of wine at a lovely bar in the centre ❤️

1. As a rule, hanging pictures as a collection the center should be around eye level. This generally means positioning the picture so its midpoint is 90cm from the floor, depending on the ceiling height of your room and your height, of course. All too often paintings are hung too high on a wall, try to keep a centre-line at around eye-level.
2. If you’re creating a collection it’s practical to hang your largest picture first centrally and work around it, play around with a few different arrangements laid out on the floor before you hang them, if the pictures are lightweight it’s a good idea to use gel tape or Command Picture hooks so you can adjust the layout without creating holes in the walls.
3. When creating a collection keep to the same frame colours for a cohesive look, a dark frame looks great against a light coloured wall, whereas a light or metallic frame pops against a dark wall. Dark frames on a dark wall look great but work with a pale picture mount or paler backgrounds within your prints to balance the appearance.
4. Hanging pictures too symmetrically in rows can look a little forced; it’s more relaxed to hang in a variety of different styles such as hanging one or two pictures over another or grouping a collection of pictures together.
5. In spaces where you're often seated such as a dining area, it makes sense to mount wall pictures lower so they sit within your natural eye line.
6. As with any rule, flexibility is needed, you may have other artwork to move around, or a fixed wall feature such as a fireplace. If the picture’s midpoint is not exactly at eye level, don’t panic: go with your instinct and hang it where it feels natural.
7. A large piece of art should demand a wide space and be allowed to shine. It will most likely be more impactful if hung alone without other pictures around it.
8. Different areas may need different arrangements. A more symmetrical hang is acceptable in a formal dining area or hall, collections are great for informal areas.

As the days grow longer and natural light begins to pour back into our homes, spring is the perfect time to refresh your interior, and few colours capture the energy of the season quite like orange.

Often overlooked in favour of safer neutrals, orange fabrics are making a strong comeback. From soft terracotta tones to bold burnt orange, this colour brings warmth, personality, and a fresh seasonal lift that’s easy to replicate.

Over the past few years, it’s no surprise that easy-clean fabrics have become one of our most requested solutions. As homes and businesses adapt to new hygiene expectations, design decisions are increasingly shaped by the need for practicality, cleanliness, and peace of mind.

From retail spaces, domestic homes and large-scale contract environments, low maintenance, hygienic fabrics are now a top priority. While natural materials offer a timeless look and feel, nothing quite compares to the convenience of being able to wipe away spills, yes, even red wine with just water!

The good news? You don’t have to compromise on style to enjoy our easy care fabrics. Our carefully selected collection includes FibreGuard ranges and a variety of EasyClean options, offering something to suit every interior and every use.

Designed to be both durable and soft, these fabrics are ideal for busy households (whether that’s children, pets, or the occasional clumsy adult). They’re equally at home in hospitality settings, where performance matters just as much as appearance.

Best of all, keeping them looking their best couldn’t be simpler, just a cloth, water, and occasionally a little household soap is all you need.

If You Love Organic Chic Interiors Read On...
A luxury take on boho inspiration, it oozes carefree sophistication.
It’s a style that brings the feeling of nature indoors through natural materials, soft shapes, earthy colours, and a relaxed, imperfect aesthetic. It’s warm, calming, and intentionally “un-polished” compared to sleek minimalism or industrial styles.

Key characteristics of organic materials
• Solid wood (especially with visible grain, live edges, or imperfections)
• Stone (travertine, marble, limestone)
• Rattan, cane, jute, linen, wool, cotton
• Clay, terracotta, ceramics
• Leather, shearling

Key shapes for organic interiors
• Soft, Curved & Irregular Shapes
• Rounded sofas, arched doorways, pebble-shaped coffee tables
• Wavy mirrors, sculptural plaster lighting
• Furniture with “wabi-sabi” imperfections (handmade look)

Key colours for an organic interior
• Earthy & Neutral Color Palette
• Beige, cream, taupe, warm whites
• Terracotta, ochre, sage green, muted clay tones
• Accents of black, charcoal, or deep brown for contrast

Key visuals is texture over pattern
• Bouclé upholstery, travertine with natural pitting, linen with visible slubs
• Layering different textures such as wood, wool, stone, ratten creates depth

Natural Elements
• Large indoor trees, trailing vines, dried grasses
• Jute, sisal, seagrass

Handcrafted & Artisan Feel
• Ceramics with glaze variations
• Hand-thrown pottery, woven baskets
• Plaster or lime-wash walls (cloudy, imperfect finish)

Warm Minimalism
• Not cluttered, but not cold/sparse either
• A few meaningful objects rather than lots of décor

We can help you create your organic interiors from creating sofas to bespoke natural fabric roman blinds and curtains, we can even make bespoke bed throws and cushions.

LONGTON ARMS UPDATE - THE FABRIC EDIT!
Its been a long slog for the owner getting the pubs structure safe and sound along with extensive floor and roof renovations, it's seemed like its taken forever to get to a stage where the beautifying can begin.
The plastering started back end of last week, the log burner goes in this week, and the long awaited painting can start next week.
Here at Buffalo Interiors we have all the bar stools upholstered and looking gorgeous in a country herringbone.
Next week we can start to build the seating which will run around the perimeter wall in the rear room, this will be created in a luxurious but very durable charcoal linen with flax undertones along with traditional antique studding.... We're also throwing a mix of vintage leathers in to add to the ambiance!
All these stunning textures will sit against the cosy back drop of dark olive walls, charcoal bar fronts and warm but light neutral ceilings, we can't wait to pull the whole scheme together, fingers crossed for the opening by the middle of December!
