🌳 BUSINESS OWNERS & PROPERTY MANAGERS — ARE YOUR TREES AND GROUNDS ACTUALLY COMPLIANT?
One of the biggest misconceptions we come across is that looking after commercial grounds simply means sending out a maintenance team when something needs cutting back.
It’s not that simple.
If you own, manage or have responsibility for commercial premises, housing, schools, care facilities, business parks or other public-access areas, you have responsibilities to manage reasonably foreseeable risks associated with your trees, grounds and the people working within them.
And when safety issues are identified, ignoring them or failing to take appropriate action can have serious consequences.
⚠️ A general risk assessment won’t automatically make unsafe work compliant.
We’ve seen situations where safety documentation has been produced for electricians to work at height in and around trees, despite tree access and arboricultural work requiring specialist consideration.
Buying a harness doesn’t make someone an arborist.
Having a generic risk assessment doesn’t make someone competent to undertake specialist tree work.
And simply using general maintenance workers for specialist arboricultural tasks may leave an organisation exposed if the work requires specific knowledge, training, equipment and competency.
Competence matters.
At Timber Tree Services, we believe businesses should be asking:
✔️ Are our trees being properly inspected and managed?
✔️ Are identified hazards being recorded and acted upon?
✔️ Are we using suitably competent and qualified professionals?
✔️ Are our contractors appropriately trained and insured?
✔️ Are RAMS specific to the actual work being undertaken?
✔️ Are we protecting employees, tenants, visitors and the public?
✔️ Can we demonstrate that we have taken reasonable steps to manage the risks?
Compliance isn’t about having a folder full of paperwork.
It’s about having the right people, the right competence, the right planning and the right controls in place.
At Timber Tree Services, we work with businesses and organisations across Lancashire to help manage their trees and grounds professionally — from tree inspections and maintenance through to tree surgery, hedge management, stump grinding, site clearance and ongoing grounds management.
If you are responsible for commercial grounds, don’t wait for an accident, complaint or enforcement action before reviewing your arrangements.
🌳 Manage the risk. Protect your people. Protect your organisation.
