With no mow May coming to an end it's time to dig out the mower and get the lawn looking ship shape.

Mowing is the key to a healthy lawn – each cut encourages the grass to grow more thickly, creating a luxuriant look. It also blocks out weeds and makes the grass more hard-wearing. Cutting the grass can take up quite a lot of time in the growing season, so it's worth making sure that you're doing it properly.

Mowing frequency, cutting heights and lawn mower maintenance are all important factors in keeping your lawn looking good.

As the weather heats up, it’s important to turn our gardens into safe havens for wildlife ☀️

Planting trees, shrubs, and dense vegetation creates cool, shaded spots where birds, bees, and other visitors can rest and escape the heat.

And don’t forget to leave out fresh water at different heights - perfect for drinking, bathing, and cooling down.

Small changes can make a big difference to the creatures we share our gardens with 🐦 🦔 🦋

The bumblebee population in the UK has been declining rapidly for almost 10 years. You can help to support bees by providing them with plants which they love and depend on.

Bees cannot see red, but they can see blue and green, and even ultraviolet light. They are drawn to more striking colours and fragrances, and flowers which have elaborate petals and ample nectar that they can easily get to. Ivy, chives, anemone, mint, foxgloves, crocus, lavender and bluebells are great for attracting bees!
