I've always found buying gifts for my dad surprisingly difficult.
And honestly, now that we don't even live in the same country, it's become even harder.
Over the years, I've tried all sorts: a science magazine subscription 📖, a mug ☕, a keyring 🔑, even a shooting experience 🎯 you name it!
And honestly?
I could never quite tell whether he liked any of them 😅
If your dad is anything like mine, he belongs to that generation that doesn't exactly jump up and down with excitement when opening a gift 😅
Then years ago, I noticed something....
When I first started making home fragrances, I gave my dad some of my very first wax melts and a candle. Nothing fancy. Just something I had created myself and selected for him (it was from the very first batch that I've released!).
A few weeks later, my dad sent me a photo. Right in the centre of his living room sat my wax melts and candle 🤩
Not hidden away. Not tucked onto a shelf. Proudly displayed where everyone could see them. And he was actually using them!😍 (even thought I never EVER in my life seen him using any home fragrances...Ever!😅)
So I asked my dad why he had put them there? His answer surprised me: "Because you thought about me. You chose those scents thinking about my wellbeing."
That's when I realised something:
Maybe dads notice more than they show? Maybe the gifts they value most aren't necessarily the biggest, most expensive, or most exciting ones? Maybe it's the gifts that feel personal? The ones that show thought?
The ones that say:
"I saw this and thought of you" 💛
So I thought, maybe this Father's Day, let me take care of the handmade part...
You just need to choose the scents that will remind your dad of you 💛
