A Long Overdue Update from Borders Task Busters
We've been a little quiet on here recently, but certainly not behind the scenes!
The last couple of months have been incredibly busy for Borders Task Busters, both out on site and back at the unit, so we thought it was about time we shared a proper update on what's been happening.
Firstly, our team is growing.
We've recently welcomed new members of staff (and well vetted subcontractors) to Borders Task Busters ltd, who are currently working through their training and building experience across the different types of work we carry out.
Growing the team properly is incredibly important to us. We're taking the time to train, develop skills and make sure the standards we expect from Borders Task Busters are carried forward as we grow.
We've also now settled into our new unit, although "settled" might be generous considering we seem to reorganise it every other week! It's given us much more room to maintain, store and prepare our equipment properly, as well as support our growing team.
Behind the scenes we've introduced new systems for enquiries, quotations and job management, with the aim of bringing down our lead times and making the whole process smoother as we grow. These systems have only recently gone live, so we're looking forward to seeing the difference they make.
We've also continued investing in new and improved equipment, while changes to how we manage and dispose of waste are helping us keep disposal costs more competitive on larger recovery projects.
Garden Recovery & Soft Landscaping
Our core focus remains what Borders Task Busters was built around — recovering, restoring and reclaiming outdoor spaces.
Alongside our recovery work, we've also been carrying out considerably more soft landscaping and garden restoration projects. From restoring flower beds and lawns to edging, planting preparation and improving existing garden layouts, this is an area we're really enjoying developing and one you'll be seeing much more of from us going forward.
Rather than automatically ripping everything out and starting again, we always look at what can be recovered and restored first, then use landscaping where it genuinely improves the space.
A quick note on enquiries
We are still working through a significant backlog.
If you're currently waiting for a quotation, site visit or response from us, we genuinely appreciate your patience. We're working through everything as quickly as possible alongside carrying out our existing booked work and training our growing team.
We're also not currently taking on any new routine garden maintenance clients, allowing us to focus more of our capacity on garden recoveries, restoration work, soft landscaping and the larger outdoor tasks we're increasingly being asked to tackle.
Looking towards 2027...
We've got some pretty big plans.
We're working towards expanding the team further, adding another crew and vehicle, and increasing our capacity to take on larger and more involved garden recovery, restoration and soft landscaping projects.
There's still plenty of work to do before we get there, but we're putting the foundations in place now.
It's been a hectic few months, but an exciting few months too and there's much, much more happening behind the scenes that we'll share as things develop.
Thank you, as always, to everyone who has supported, recommended and chosen our wee Borders business.
We're only getting started.
