Foss Mill Crossing path improvements
One of the new waymarked walks that the Estate has developed recently has received some major improvements last week. The Foss Mill Crossing trail that stretches from Allerton Head to Goldsborough passes through Mulgrave Woods at Foss Mill, an old water mill site close to Barnby beck. The waymarked walk benefits from a new 40ft wooden bridge to cross the watercourse and now the path leading to this from High Leas has been resurfaced with 80 ton of crush and run stone to make access easier. The surfacing of the route has been a joint venture between the Estate and the National Park Authority.
John, our Countryside Manager commented ‘The path down to Foss Mill has always been a challenging one. The natural slope is subject to erosion however with the recent drainage work and resurfacing the path should be in a good, usable condition for years to come. The route is proving to be one of the most popular stretches of the Foss Mill Crossing trail and warranted some attention and repair. It is part of 3 new routes that the Estate is promoting to enable visitors to enjoy the Estates scenic beauty between Glaisdale and the coast.’
