Shane Doherty Architecture are delighted to once again take part in the RIAI Simon Open Door Initiative 2026 alongside our colleagues across the country.

This fantastic initiative is a collaboration between the Simon Communities of Ireland and the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (RIAI), offering homeowners a unique opportunity to explore the potential of their home.

For a donation of €125, you will receive a one-hour consultation with a RIAI Registered Architect to discuss your plans whether you are thinking about renovating, extending, building or retrofitting.

All participating architects are giving their time and expertise free of charge, with every cent raised going directly to the Simon Communities of Ireland, who have been supporting people experiencing homelessness for almost 50 years.

With homelessness at record levels in Ireland, initiatives like this are more important than ever and your support can make a real difference.

Great to meet so many people at the Inishowen Co-Op Home Build Event this weekend.

A sincere thank you to everyone who took the time to visit my stand, chat about your plans and experience the virtual reality designs. It was a pleasure to speak with you all.

Well done to Inishowen Co-Op and their team for organising such a fantastic event for the region and creating a real opportunity for people to connect, learn and plan their next steps.

A big thank you also to the Inishowen Gateway Hotel for hosting. A fantastic venue for an event like this.

What is the Expert Speaker Series at the Inishowen Co-Op Home Build & Energy Efficiency Hub Event this Saturday?

New for 2026, the event will include a short-format Expert Speaker Series titled
“From First Step to Finished Home.”

Each session will run for approximately 15 minutes, followed by a short audience Q&A, allowing visitors to ask questions directly to the speaker.
Talks begin at 12:30pm.
The series will guide visitors through the key stages of the building journey, helping people avoid common mistakes and make informed decisions.
