Located near the Statue of Unity on a unique ravine - carved site, the Gujarat Vandana Museum - winner in an international design competition - is a tribute to the region’s cultural legacy. Deeply rooted in context, the design weaves a continuous water narrative, a homage to the Narmada River, flowing from the entrance through a central courtyard to a crafted water feature. Visitors begin in the North Wing, crossing a bridge overlooking the lush “fifth elevation” courtyard, proceeding to the South Wing’s triple-height atrium with striking ravine vistas. The experience deepens through a subterranean tunnel offering intimate views, leading into the modern Elliptical Building. Oriented precisely on the Statue of Unity’s axis, this landmark features a vertical slit window and four levels of ascending galleries. These culminate in a rooftop cafeteria and stepped viewing deck, where visitors embrace the landscape’s grandeur before a spiraling ramp and exit bridge lead them back to the lobby.

25 Years. One Journey. Many Stories!
In January, we celebrated 25 years of Opolis in a way that felt most true to us—by bringing together everyone who has been part of the journey. Architects, interns, colleagues from 2001 onwards, all gathered in Pune to celebrate a shared history and many futures.
The weekend began with an open house at the studio—models and projects from across 25 years sparking memories, conversations, and reconnections. From reflections and talks, to an afternoon of alumni sharing their work and journeys beyond _Opolis, it was a reminder that paths may diverge, but roots remain shared.
The evening unfolded with memories, music, dance, cake, and maja masti—along with heartfelt moments of gratitude as we felicitated those who have been pillars of Opolis through the years. A special highlight was the love and wishes sent by family, reminding us how deeply this journey has been shared.
At _Opolis, we don’t believe in farewells—only open doors. Perhaps that’s why this celebration felt less like a reunion and more like coming home!
Deeply grateful to our alumni, our current team, our families, and everyone who travelled to be part of this unforgettable weekend.
Here’s to 25 years—and to all that is ahead of us 🙏

11 years. Deep gratitude. Timeless memories.
Our journey with the AD List began in 2015, when Architectural Digest first introduced the AD50—a moment that felt both surreal and deeply affirming. To be counted alongside legends like B.V. Doshi and many other inspiring voices in architecture and design was an honour we will always cherish.
We still remember that very first year—the meticulous photo shoot, the make-up, the styling, the sense of occasion. It was a celebration of ideas, people, and possibility. A professional shoot that happened only that once, marking the beginning of something special.
Over the years, as the list evolved from 50 to 100 names, Opolis Architects has been humbled and proud to remain a part of it—for 11 consecutive years. What stays with us most are the friendships, the conversations, the shared tables, and the joy of watching peers do extraordinary work across the subcontinent.
This post is a quiet tribute—to Architectural Digest, to the AD List, and to the incredible community of architects and designers we are fortunate to stand alongside.
Here’s to the journey, the memories, and the work that keeps us inspired.
Last but not the least the _Opolis team over the years and on the completion of our 25 years want to take a moment to thank each member who has been a part of this incredible journey!
