Interwoven Resilience

Project Introduction: Resilient Futures – A Low-Cost School for Nepal

In the face of increasing climate vulnerability and seismic activity, Nepal urgently needs affordable and resilient educational infrastructure. Our project responds to this need by proposing a low-cost, earthquake- and flood-resistant school that prioritises safety, sustainability, and community empowerment.

Architectural Design Concept: Interwoven Resilience

At the heart of our design lies a simple yet powerful idea: resilience is not just structural, it is social, spatial, and symbolic. Our architectural response for the low-cost school in Nepal is shaped by the lived realities of a community navigating the dual threats of earthquakes and floods, while striving for unity, education, and hope.
The school is composed of interlocking, staggered modular units, a deliberate architectural language that symbolises strength through connection. Each unit supports and stabilises the next, just as individuals in a community rely on one another during times of crisis. This modularity not only allows for flexibility and scalability in construction but also embodies the spirit of collective resilience.
