Back to the field! Yes, we can finally spend the coming weeks surrounded by dahlias again 🤗

Just like in many gardens, our dahlias are flowering a little later this year. During the hot periods they seemed to stop growing completely, but now, with a lovely mix of sunshine and rain, they are making a big growth spurt.🌸

And that means more and more flowers every day. We are so happy to be back in the field, checking the varieties, cutting flowers and enjoying all the colours around us!

3 dahlia need-to-knows for more flowers:

🌸 Feed regularly, but watch the nitrogen
Dahlias benefit from regular feeding, but avoid fertilisers that are too high in nitrogen. Too much nitrogen gives you lots of leafy growth and fewer flowers.

🌸 Don’t be afraid to cut deep
Later in the season, cut your flowers deeper into the plant instead of only taking the top blooms. This encourages fresh new shoots and helps the plant keep producing flowers.

🌸 Keep cutting and deadheading
The more you harvest and remove faded flowers, the more energy your dahlia can put into producing new buds.

A little growing tip: don’t spoil your Cosmos with soil that is too rich. In very fertile soil, they often produce lots of green growth and fewer flowers. Cosmos actually prefer relatively poor soil, which helps encourage more blooms 🌸.
