A mint day for a reduction!
Reductions are slower due to manoeuvring around the canopy, we’ve slowed it down so you can see just how much skill our climbers need to prune the branches.
Reducing the canopy of a tree is a good way to keep the tree while keeping the size in check.

We had a macro log in the yard and it was too good to waste so let the milling commence!
Nothing beats the reveal after that first cut to see what grain the log has 🤤
These slabs will make some beautiful table tops 🥰

The awesome thing about arboriculture is that it’s still a relatively new trade.
This means our industry is constantly getting new gear and new techniques that make our lives easier, safer and more fun.
I’m not going to sit here and bore you with all the details on why this device could be a game changer.
All that matters is there is a new toy in the office and it looks good on the harness 😂

This was a fun day in the harness!

Unfortunately this mature oak had to be removed as a new carpark was being built underneath the tree. The damage to the roots would have killed this tree over time so we recommended the removal of the oak which would allow the carpark to go in and the mature maple behind the oak to thrive in its place.

There is something satisfying about rigging out most branches and logs to avoid damaging the house and the trees underneath!

Pete was on the tools on this job and came across this spicy Lombardy poplar! 🌶️

Poplars are a fast growing tree and 9 times out of 10 mature Lombardy poplars of this size are hollow.

This poplar had definitely passed its use its date especially when you can see light at the bottom of it!
This was a good tree to get on the deck! 🌳

After a few solid days of Seth going through and submitting our health and safety documents, it’s such a good feeling to come out with another Gold status and we are even more stoked to come out with a score of 97%! 🥇

No one gets into climbing trees to deal with health and safety documents, normally we are up a tree to avoid the paperwork but making sure the team gets home safe is the most important thing we can do on site. ✅

On this job we were called in to take out some poplars and gum trees that had become hazardous for the owners.

While it’s sad to see big trees go, these poplars were dropping limbs every time there was wind and making it unsafe, if we didn’t remove them now, those Canterbury winds would do it for us.
