We are excited to share we have won a Heritage award at the .bay.of.plenty awards tonight for our own offices in Hamilton. A restoration of a building that started off life as a Mssonic Lodge in 1924, then a wedding venue in the 90s. Thanks so much to everyone who helped with giving our building a new lease on life!

Tokoroa Library is taking shape 📚✨

It’s great to see the project coming together on site — a space designed to support connection, learning and the wider community. We’re looking forward to seeing it continue to evolve.

APG Architects are proud to be shortlisted in the NZIA Wellington Architecture Awards 2026 for Te Ao Mārama, Te Wānanga o Aotearoa, Porirua Campus.

A space grounded in mātauranga, designed to support learning, wellbeing, and connection — reflecting a journey from darkness into light.

The new molecular lab at Waikato Hospital was a recent Gold Winner at the Commercial Project Awards.

The lab was a significant upgrade to colocate the Molecular Biology dept to join the main lab floor.

The molecular lab was pivotal as part of the covid outbreak where testing peaked at 4000 tests per day.

It was designed to PC2 lab compliance and air lobbies were introduced at lab entrance points for compliance. A new Point of Care testing laboratory where staff facilitate the analysis of clinical specimens outside the laboratory, near, or at the site of patient care.

So thrilled to be finalists the first year we have entered these awards!

Thanks to our clients, Te Wananga o Aotearoa for a fantastic project.

The brief called for a whare that embodied Māori values and supports tauira success.
Filtered light and shadow throughout the spaces formed by panels of perforated steel evoke the name of the Campus: Te Ao Mārama, the natural world of life and light.
The perforation creates shadows but still allows light (ra) to illuminate the spaces inside and connects visually with the Porirua harbour and the distant mountain ranges.
The Whakapapa of each internal space has been carefully considered together with mana whenua, to ensure the cultural narratives of the iwi/hapū using interior finishes with a natural colour palette reflecting the surrounding landmarks.

Congratulations to all of the consultants and contractors that brought the vision to life.
