🌿Succulents 🌿
I'm always planting them at Terrace View Garden, tucking some into the rocks and potting up others. Since our hard frosts have arrived, I’m being careful about which ones stay out in the open, as only a select few are hardy enough to survive the freeze. The rest are tucked up nice and cosy under cover ❄️ Sometimes I loose them and have to start again 😥 but others are just so hardy and are not fussed.

🌿 The Great Boundary Rehash at Terrace View Garden 🌿
When we first moved onto the Rotherham main road with two little boys, a dog, and two cats, safety and privacy were everything. We decided to let the boundary bushes grow wild—and they definitely took that assignment seriously! 😂
Through heavy snow damage, wild seedlings, and self-seeded ribbonwoods, they grew so much that we completely lost our clean garden line.
Over the last month, I’ve been on a mission to reclaim it:

🪓 Limbing up branches to let the light back in

🪨 Shifting heavy rocks & digging out stubborn roots

🌱 Laying fresh topsoil & tucking in new plantings

The ultimate win? I finally uncovered
our original entranceway fence that had been swallowed by the jungle and gave it a fresh coat of stain today! 🪵✨
It’s still a work in progress, but I’m so happy with how far it's come.

What a beautiful Autumn we're having with a welcome rain for the garden today 💚. It's a busy time of the year for HGF garden owners who are making the most of the daylight hours, growing and planting.

Well… apparently the Granny Bonnets think this is their garden now 🌧️😅
All this summer rain has sent them into a frenzy and they’ve taken over Terrace View Garden! Today’s mission: eviction notice. I’ve been culling and carting them off in my trusty wee Datsun, Daisy — she’s earning her keep!
Meanwhile, the penstemons, Japanese anemones, hydrangeas, roses and sedums are blooming away beautifully, pretending everything is perfectly under control 🌸

💜 The lavender is just starting to pop on the terrace! Loving the sunshine and all that free-draininage. It’s coming out in gorgeous little clusters around the buxus balls, perenials and roses, with a few popped in the vegetable garden too — the bees are enjoying it already. ✨🌞
Lavender is one of my favourite plants!

Today we welcomed a bus load of keen gardeners from the Waimea Garden Club. 🌱 They enjoyed a beautiful lunch in the shade of the Claret Ash trees and on the patio, a visit to the garden, shopping with and plant sales ⚘🧦

Today I visited , a 5 star national garden of significance in the Selwyn district, Canterbury NZ. 💚🌷
It was nice to visit a completely different garden than my own! It was sheltered with hedges forming pathways with vistas of urns and sculptures. In the middle of the garden is a beautiful pond with a fountain and red bridge. Canopies of trees created an oasis of amazingly large thriving hostas.

My lupins are looking amazing this spring 💜🌸 It's a great year for them!
Every plant is covered in blooms — tall and pretty and still opening up. I've never seen them so stunning 🌿✨
