Another residential design recently added to the portfolio on the NB Architect website. Designed by our senior draughtsperson, the project embraces the site constraints — lifting lightly above the slope with a simple steel structure to minimise excavation. Great design doesn’t need to be complicated — just clear, confident, and well resolved.

A huge congratulations to Timaru Boys High School on the official reopening of the Harper Library following its extensive redevelopment.

What was once a building facing ongoing maintenance challenges has been transformed into a modern, flexible learning hub designed to support students well into the future. The project included earthquake strengthening, resolving long-standing roof issues, and the creation of new teaching spaces, careers facilities, and adaptable areas for study, meetings, and collaboration.

Libraries today are about far more than books — they are places for learning, connection, and opportunity. We’re proud to have contributed to a project that will play such an important role in the daily life of the school community for years to come.

Te Pari Products, based in Oamaru, is planning a big expansion next door. Te Pari are known for producing high-quality livestock handling equipment for farmers. This home is quietly clever. It meets sustainable, environmental and health goals without shouting about it — just smart, thoughtful design doing its thing. Natural timber joinery, polished concrete floors that soak up the sun for passive warmth, and a clean, efficient roofline all work together effortlessly. Even the west-facing bedroom windows are tucked back to keep things cool and comfortable when the sun is at its strongest.

And then there are the views… 🌊
Silke, Graeme and their family enjoy sweeping ocean views through generous windows from morning right through to night — a home that’s as good to live in as it is to look at.
