Our art installation, “Broken,” created in collaboration with .bkk , will be on view at Dream Graff Gallery, Klongtan, as part of The Photo of Sound Art Exhibition, opening in two months.
Bringing together works by various artists, the exhibition explores the relationship between sound, image, and spatial experience.
Description
In this work, the artist explores a profound disconnect between emotional, intellectual, and physical presences. It is comparable to a musical instrument producing a dissonant note-one that fails to align with its intended key. At the core of the installation is a light object that translates the internal discordance of thoughts and feelings into audio - visual sequences. This is encased in polished, curved stainless steel, which projects a fragmented reflection of the viewer back to themselves. As the visual motion morphs, a synchronized assemblage of ambient sounds of daily life plays out. The work illustrates this fragmented state: a condition in which one remains functional and
active, but the internal self has fractured and is continually out of sync.
Broken is a mixed-media installation that bridges physical materiality with digital synchronization. The technical ex*****on focuses on two core
systems:
Materiality & Reflection: The 70x70 cm structure is fabricated from polished, curved stainless steel. Its curvature is engineered to distort and fragment reflections, serving as a physical manifestation of internal
disconnection.
Visual Music & Motion: The internal visuals are inspired by the early 20th- century Visual Music movement and avant-garde experiments in light and rhythm. Originally derived from paintings, these visuals are composed into video sequences that loop in synchronization with a daily-life soundscape. This creates a "controlled discordance"-a state where technical harmony represents a
fractured emotional reality
This work is a collaboration between Leftover Studio and Godmother Studio, two architectural practices focused on the interplay of space, light, and user experience. In their joint practice, they share a deep interest in the experimentation of light and materiality. Broken is part of an ongoing collaborative project titled "Unconventional," where the studios continue to explore new perspectives on how light and material can influence the perception
of a space.
