Get ready to cast a line—Michigan Department of Natural Resources has announced that Free Fishing Weekend is happening this Saturday & Sunday, February 14–15, 2026! During these two days:

✨ No fishing license is required for anyone — residents and out-of-state visitors alike!

✨ All inland waters and Great Lakes fishing are open to enjoy without a license.

✨ The usual Recreation Passport fee is also waived, meaning you don’t need a park pass for boat launches and state parks during the weekend.

✨ All other fishing regulations — like size and bag limits — still apply, so be sure to fish responsibly.

Whether you love ice fishing, shore fishing, or trying something new, this is a great opportunity to enjoy Michigan’s beautiful waterways with family and friends — no license required! 🎣💙
