2) We are handing out sheets of IRT (Infra-Red-Transferring) plastic. Staple it onto planter boxes to raise the soil temp 10 degrees…and let it block the weeds ‘til you’re ready to plant.

💫Clear plastic lets in light and heat but allows weeds to grow

💫Black plastic reflects light and heat but leaves the soil beneath it cool.

💫IRT lets warm rays through but doesn’t let weeds grow beyond wee sprouts.

When you shop, get your EYES on! Did they trim? Are there bugs?

Trimming gives us a chance to check for bugs or weak plants.

Trimming also gives the plant more branching so it will fill out when you take it home.

When you shop, check to see that plants aren’t leggy (long stretches of stem between nodes).

Check under flower buds and lower leaves for bugs or white aphid flakes (molting)

Let any staff know if you find bugs or less healthy plants.🌱
