Trying to video a 15’ king post going in while running the remote with sub par video skills doesn’t answer everyone’s question but maybe this helps.

I displace the pipe 4” from where I want it, tip the pipe direct in line where the fence will go, tip into it and run into the skid steer pounder head. Then slowly climb on to it. I only use this method when the fence line goes where this post will be. On majority of our fence work, the fence line has variance up to a couple feet of where to start and end, so if the king post for brace 1 or 2 moves a few inches during this, nothing is affected in the fence line.

Growing up, Dad called this the “line game”. Hope this helps answer some questions of how we line up fence going over hills when we can see each end brace from at least one spot in the fence line .

North Dakota’s newest fence complete!

We installed a new 6 wire fence to keep cows and calves off the new Bully Pulpit Ranch site going around the new wedding venue and cabins.

Thank you Baker Metal for the custom signs, Flying A Ranch & Welding for the custom gate and fence welding, Buckman ranch supply for the brace posts and pipe, Prairie Lumber for the posts and wire, and Alex Maus for the brace bars on this one.

Along the road we used underground bracing at every turn, along with the gate post and a few end braces by the creek crossing to prevent lift or moving on the future

We mixed 2 point and 4 point barbed wire to help with wildlife going over or under the fence. Too many pictures here for “just a fence” but hard to decide what to use to highlight some details we took close attention to. Mixed in some work at the Medora Amphitheater as well.

Massive thank you to my fiance Taylor for rolling up and tearing the old woven wire fence and clipping the entire project as well!

Had the best helper for some welding work after the rain finally showed up!

Our turn braces, gate pipe and even some end braces typically have underground welding to give support and longevity to your fence while keeping the above ground look clean and tidy.

“Smoother than the other side of the pillow” - Stuart Scott

This flat land work has been easier on the knees than past work.

The wind and red flag warnings have been a killer on our progress, so we added a few jobs in while waiting to finish welding. From 85 degrees and 45 mph winds to yesterday’s 37 and rain it was a very nice adjustment. We’ve been finishing up projects in Sentinel Butte, Medora, and revamping some corrals at home while also branding and hauling cattle for several days with the best little helpers.

In Sentinel Butte, we started in April with super steel windbreak in their corrals and finished Sunday with a nice clean 6 wire fencing in a holding lot at Olstad’s. I’ve been fencing at their ranch for 8 years now and very thankful for their constant work! Working for great people makes every job easier and more meaningful.

And best of all, down from 2 leg braces to 1! Which hopefully turns to 0 sometime this summer!

‘Find God in today and tell someone about him!’

I read what another fencer posted of some words from Ryan Miller and they’ve been running through my head constantly since.

Ryan has been a true follower of Christ and believer in God since I knew who he was. He’s an amazing man, husband, dad, Christian, fencer and more. He has recently lost his wife and I would ask that anyone reading this to take time from their day to say prayers for her, him and their boys.

Last fall Msgr. Richter said, ‘you are never too young to believe in God and get others to as well.’

If we pair both of these together we can make a difference

Check out our latest road projected completed! Over 4,500 feet of new 4 wire fence freshly installed. This sharp barbed 4 point, high tensile wire comes with an amazing warranty and the slick shine to it pairs nicely with the great views from this work site. Materials for this job came from Prairie Lumber in Beach and Buckman Ranch Supply of Sentinel Butte, and the dog treats from Dollar General.

Thank you Sentinel Township for the business!
