Two rooms in the same house can feel completely different, and it usually has nothing to do with the finishes.

It’s orientation. East-facing rooms get bright early and go flat by noon. South-facing rooms hold steady light all day. West-facing rooms turn strong and glaring by mid-afternoon. North-facing rooms never get direct sun at all — which is exactly why they’re the calmest, most usable light in the house.
